“Booked two stays with Sykes this year and booking process is very efficient.
We found the team in Ambleside very responsive and fast acting when there was a problem with the toilet. The tradesmen were friendly and efficient. The response dispelled any negativity we might have felt.
During our second booking at a Cornish location we had to inform a person of arrival time two hours ahead of our arrival time. The complimentary cream tea advertised on the Sykes site was missing and we felt uncomfortable about texting anybody about it. There were lots of compliments in the property’s visitors book praising the cream tea and extras which made us feel worse.
My point is this: we felt happy with a bigger problem which needed attention on the first holiday because the service was brilliant. The more minor problem elsewhere with the cream tea was worse because there was no personal service (we didn't see a single person although we were on the owners property) and no response from owner or Sykes after posting our review.”
“Very underwhelming property, the whole complex is tired and there are pieces of old furniture being stored under balconies, the paths are uneven with weeds
Growing through. The boundary fence is tilting and looks precarious. The interior appears completed on a budget, mismatched old 2nd hand furniture, wiring for the tv exposed and dangling down. The shower off the main living spaces floods, when used even or a short time. Limited or no information/instructions about the property and surrounding areas. For the price paid for the 2 days we expected a lot more.”

“We had a 2 night stay at The Paddock, Keswick, a lovely location.
We arrived a little early with 6 children who had travelled a long way. It was a wet, cold day, the children needed to use the toilet, even though there was someone in the property they did not answer the door until exactly 4pm, not a welcoming start.
The cottage was lovely.
The wooden ended bed in the ground floor en-suite room was too big for the room, there was no space to move around the bed, I have several bruises on my shins! The en-suite in the same bedroom obviously had a damp issue, black mood patches on the walls.
Not all of the showers in the en-suites in the house worked well.
As instructed we stripped the beds before leaving, three of the beds had very stained mattress covers, we did not wish to see the state of the mattresses underneath. Surely the point of mattress protectors is that they can be washed and when badly stained thrown away.
We enjoyed our stay but will not be booking at this property again.”
