“Watermead was excellent, the hosts friendly, the welcome gifts generous, the setting beautiful, the house comfortable and warm and well equipped. We have used your company since you took over Menai Cottages many years ago and you manage some outstanding properties but I find your marketing policy tedious and intrusive. Fewer emails would be welcome.”
“We stayed at 8 church lane tean. The owner popped over on our arrival to light the wood burner which was lovely . They also left us a wonderful welcome pack including bread, butter, milk, orange juice and mince pies . The property was exactly as described, super clean and cosy. Booking was simple and communication with sykes was excellent”
“Lovely little place. We went for a Christmas break and it was perfect! My son said that his bed was so comfortable that it was the best nights sleep he had ever had.
Little cold on arrival, obviously with it being December. But the heating works well and extra heaters were provided, so it warmed up quickly.
No problems with anything, everything worked as it should. I appreciated the cute little Christmassy extras like a tree, snowman toilet paper & Christmas tea towels. Also, a nice little tray of biscuits, tea & coffee were provided.
Would definitely visit again.”
“Hygge at number 8 was beautifully presented and clean. It catered very nicely for our needs - a comfortable place to relax at the end of days exploring the Lakes.
Instructions were clear and concise, it may be helpful, however to add a note about using the magnetic key fob to open the inside main entrance door.”

“Beautiful cottage perfect for our weekend getaway. Lovely and clean property, everything you need. The bathroom is amazing! Garden is quite easy to find but detached from property, we were only there for weekend and was a rainy one but if we were there on a nicer weekend I m sure we would of used it. Good communication with owners, we had a query on first night and they were prompt to respond. Threkheld is a great village, do try the coffee shop - their hot chocolate is the next level!”

“A lovely cottage with a perfect set up for a large family - we were a group of 7 adults and a baby and the set up was just right. There was a cot and a bed guard available, as well as a high chair and fireguards in place. The cottage has a bath with overhead shower, plus a seperate shower room which is useful. All the radiators were electric and the lounge uses a wood burning stove. The handle gets very hot on the stove so use oven gloves - the handle on our stove at home doesn't get hot, so we did get caught out by this.
The location was excellent and we managed a quick afternoon walk into Settle via the nearby fields. It's an easy amble, relatively flat. There are longer walks around too.
The kitchen is fantastic, with plenty of crockery, pans, a french press, cutlery, etc. The underfloor heating in here is lovely. The induction hob wasn't very intuitive and we had to Google some instructions! The toaster is also in a poor state and could do with being replaced.
The hot tub was wonderful and there are robes provided by the back door. We would definitely return here and recommend it as a place for a relaxing stay.”
