“We had a lovely week staying at Jay cottage in Weymouth. We had sunshine everyday and enjoyed days out in and around Weymouth. The accomodation had everything we needed. It was our second visit there and we hope to visit again.”
“Lovely bungalow, with lots of outside seating. For us it was a very pleasant stay with very nice
surroundings. If I was to be picky,as a physically challenged person would have loved a ramp
at the rear so I could have ventured into the garden,as I am physically challenged and I cannot
climb up and down steps, but all in all a great find, would definitely recommend.”
“Very nice cottage. Clean and tidy. Just what we have come to expect from sykes cottages, however we did book another holiday for September this year but due to unforseen circumstances had to cancel, but not able to get our deposit back, which we found very disappointing, considering how many sykes cottages we have booked in the past, maybe you need to reconsider your cancellation policy.
Yours disappointed customer.”
“Sykes website was clear and the booking process was easy.
The description of the accommodation was accurate and directions to the property were easy to follow. I received regular updates and reminders which was reassuring.
2 Peninsula Apartments is a great place to stay: spacious, clean and an easy walk in to St Ives or down to Porthminster Beach. It was worth getting up early to watch the sunrise from the terrace. I highly recommend Sykes and this apartment.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.”
“Great location in the centre of Grassington. Very comfortable master bedroome but second bedroom only suitable for children. Had some problems with the washing machine.”
“Great places to stay at competitive prices. Good value insurance cover. Very good customer service. Having booked three times now I have no complaints so far. The properties I have stayed in have been great.”
“We have stayed in Sykes cottages and found the process of booking very easy even for old fogies like myself. The standard of the cottages is very high. Thank you very much 😊”
“Lovely week staying at Valley High. The accommodation was very cosy and clean. Stunning view of Newgale which is just a few minutes walk down the hill.
Just a couple of minor things. There is a bit of an ant problem in the kitchen now that the weather is warme not sure where they were coming from but generally found them on the work top near the sink. I couldn't open the kitchen door to the outside, the key seemed stuck and wouldn't turn, so we used the patio doors in the lounge to access the garden. Other than those little things, the host was very attentive and all in all we had an excellent holiday there.”
“Good points - fabulous location, 5 mins walk into Windermere and also close to bus route so absolutely no need to use your car
Very quiet, enclosed garden which was great for the pooch, parking off road - so handy when unpacking
Areas for development - no welcome pack! Not even a pint of milk :-( first place we've stayed where this hasn't been provided which was disappointing.
Cleanliness was a bit lacking in places. Bathroom drawers had a dried out anti=bacterial wipe left in a packet, some liquid soap which looked past its best. Kitchen cupboard - packer of chilli coated snacks which were open left on the top shelf, cannisters with sugar in could do with a wipe down. No dishcloth to wipe the sides down, a couple of washing pods would have been helpful. Loads of leaflets in drawers which were out of date for bus routes and other things, so a review of those would be helpful.
No feedback book which is always useful.
None of the above would stop us coming back, but are just little things to be aware of.”
“Lots of places to choose.
But when there is an issue with a property there is no one to talk to.
All automated messages.
Really frustrating.
Please can we have a dedicated customer service line.”
“Service was excellent, advisor very pleasant and was able to quickly resolve my problem. Chice of properties is very good and have found that generally they are as described. Have no problem in recommending sykes”
“The accommodation was very clean, location is excellent for visiting local attractions, train station just down the road making it very easy to pop into Nottingham for a day out without using car.
Owners friendly and leave you to yourselves, which suits us.
Bed was very comfy, slept very well.
Hot Tub large, always hot, bit of a faff to open up, but worth it to relax after busy days out.
There are a few small negatives which has prompted me to leave 4 stars, as I felt this did have an impact on our break.
Firstly, the fridge is very small which limitsthe options of what you can store in there, there is a tiny (and I mean tiny) freezer section, which had half a bag of ice in, the rest was frozen up so we were unable to use to make our own fresh ice.
The WiFi is intermittent ( we found this the case in the area in general with Mobile Data patchy when out and about), however, considering the TV is internet powered, we did suffer a little with programs dropping out or freezing which was frustrating.
The shower is not powerful, more of a trickle, and temperature control is guesswork, but it did do the job.
All in we enjoyed our stay, just the few minor niggles which I feel are quite simple to resolve.”
“A very comfortable cottage - one of a pair of old almshouses - in the tranquil and beautiful village of Forthampton just across the Severn from Tewkesbury. The cottage is well-equipped and managed by an accessible owner who is keen to ensure that her guests have all that they need and enjoy their stay. The area - between the Cotswolds and the Malverns (both of which are visible from the garden) - is a varied and lovely part of the country. Hereford and the Welsh border are not far away while Worcester and Gloucester are closer still. In April the sun shone while bluebells and the blossom on the fruit trees brought the fields and villages to colourful life. Three miles up the road is Longdon Marsh, where Elgar came with bicycle and notebook, to write some of his most beautiful music. The market town of Tewkesbury reeks of John Moore's evocative books which were based here and in the surrounding villages. An enchanted place.”
