“Beautiful cottage with gorgeous views, nice to walk around the area and close to Holmfirth. Cottage was fully stocked with amenities all we had to get was a food shop. We loved being able to bring our dog along too. She loved the walks and then warming up by the fire.”
“An absolute stunning cottage. Spotlessly clean. Everything you need is in this cottage. Very comfy sofas. Very comfy beds and an extremely quiet area. Has a nice seating area with comfy cushions. Absolutely total privacy. The hot tub is maintained each morning but the guy didn't disturb us or make a noise and didn't walk across the path to check next doors hot tub. There is a gate to next door but is locked so no fear of anyone popping into your garden area. We had no problems whatsoever but if we had, there would be help on hand immediately. The key safe to collect the key is easy to access and to then return the key on departure. My wife is a wheelchair user and this cottage is extremely wheelchair friendly with no problems at all. My wife couldn't use the hot tub due to disability but the cottage is very accommodating for her to sit and have a drink near the hot tub area to feel engaged etc. There is a car parking space to the rear of the cottage and I was able to park the car at the side area to use the path to push my wife into the cottage and back out again and then simply park at the rear again immediately to were it is instructed to do so. So no problems at all for a disabled person. There is absolutely nothing that this little gem needs to make for a better stay because it is so extremely thought out. A fab base for traveling around the local area and beyond. A co-op around 5 minutes away by car and a nice fish and chip shop if you don't wish to cook etc. very good prices too. There's not one single negative about this cottage.
We will definitely be booking again in the future. A credit to the owners and the staff certainly are an absolute credit to them too.”

“The good things, excellent location, lovely views of river and hills from the flat. Settle is lovely, all you need in a small town. 2 mins walk to an asda express, 5 mins walk to the town centre. Takeaways nearby. Comfortable flat, good beds. River and hill walks start at the flat.
The bad things, flat could of done with a better clean and hoover, minor disrepairs throughout the flat. Minalmist approach to standard items eg. No salt/sugar, hoover/ brush dust pan etc. If you have mobility issues the property is on the third floor.
On the whole a good stay in settle.”
“Lovely stay at the cottage. Everywhere was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had 2 problems and these were sorted straight away. The hot tub was always at the correct temperature and was looked at everyday by the maintenance team. We had a lovely break as there is so much to do in the area, by walking or driving. Would highly recommend”
“We stayed in the Shippon from 11th May to 17th May to celebrate my wife’s and my birthdays.
When we arrived we were greeted by Sara and Ozgur our lovely hosts and shown round the beautiful property with its outstanding views.
We couldn’t have wished for a better relaxing break in a very well appointed and spotless accommodation. We also made use of the hot tub at night for stargazing which is spectacular, with little light pollution.
The property and grounds are so well maintained. We could not fault our break and will definitely be returning.

“Disappointed on arrival with the area, not the best surroundings but there was no problem with noise during our stay . Very handy for ASDA , just across the road, and luckily I had booked a parking space in their car park with Just Park as parking in the street was difficult. Inside the cottage was very clean and comfortable, kitchen was well stocked.Welcome pack was very nice touch as was the lovely card from the owner.
Bedrooms are a good size with plenty of storage and comfy beds.
Steps down into bathroom, which I knew about, and which could have had a small hand rail for safety reasons. Problem initially with shower, control was very stiff and difficult to get correct temperature. We reported it and got response from agents the next day, very helpful gentleman, but we'd managed to get it working so left it at that even though still not the best
Plenty of hot water and heating easy to use which was great as it was cold in the evening.
Short walk into town centre, harbour and beach. Some works ongoing to pavements to improve the area. Town centre a bit run down unfortunately but beach and prom lovely, very impressed, spotlessly clean, plenty of cafes and great toilet facilities.”
“We were a party of 7 friends who stayed firca long weekend. The position of the house was perfect and the views were fantastic. The rooms were comfortable although some had limited storage space. Shower pressure was also good. We loved sitting outside to have breakfast or an evening drink looking out over the bay.”
“Grafton Mill was great! Such a magical place. Everything was well-appointed and spotless. The setting of the mill is unmatched. The wildlife surrounding it is amazing. And Jane is the best of hostesses! We were greeted with warmth and food! And proximity to the owners’ home meant no worries should any issues arise. However, none did. We have counted on Sykes cottages now for 20ish years to find unique & wonderful places to stay. And, they came through again!”
“Great please to stay 🫶🏻 very clean, great location, can walk to a couple of pubs nearby and next to a gorgeous river / country side location and very well equipped cottage.
When we arrived there was a few welcome treats - milk in the fridge and a basket with a loaf of bread, chocolate, a bottle of wine and crisps. There was also coffee and sugar.
Would definitely stay again and could not thank the hosts enough, would recommend to anyone.”
“We had a wonderful stay at October Cottage. Very clean cottage, spacious, plenty of room for 5 adults and a dog. Nice big garden enclosed at the back. The pictures on the website doesn't really reflect how nice it is. Everything you need is in the cottage. Good location, couple of nice pubs with good food. Lovely walks around the area.
