“Loved our stay the house was lovely, clean and homely
Would suggest that instructions for the oven are readily available we scratched our heads 🤣and the back door lock could be difficult other than that we all said yes it was a definite yes if we came back to this part of beautiful wales”
“We have used Sykes for a number of years and have always found the properties we have stayed at to be of a good standard of comfort and cleanliness however we have stayed at two cottages this year which we felt did not meet previous years standards.
In one property the key collection was very haphazard and seemed to be more for the convenience of the owner than us the guests and when we did gain access there was no internet or tv connections, much of the cutlery was in need of a wash, it could have been better presented and cleaner. There was no welcome pack or general information about what was in the area which might have been of interest to a stranger.
The second property was also lacking in internet and tv connection, only tepid hot water, smelling of damp and could do with a touch of paint and general TLC.
While I am on a roll, as these properties are self catering please ensure that the cooking utensils are up to the job. In two of the properties the non stick element to the frying pans had gone and in one case the pan was showing signs of rust.
On the positive side we found Robertsons Cottage at Caledon a delight to stay in as it is simple but comfortable and provides everything one needs for an enjoyable break away from home, like wise Brandy Cottage in Galway was of a high standard and a joy to visit.
Also only two weeks prior to our leaving for our five week break in Ireland we were informed our first property, which we had booked for two weeks, was no longer available due to the owner selling it. We were then sent a single alternative. I do feel that we could have been given a little more help in finding alternative accommodation.”
“The Bungalow is very comfortable, and clean it does feel like home from home.
Just a couple of things, the Televison could be mounted a bit lower in the living room, you do get neck ache a bit.
The quits on the single beds need to be wider as dont cover you properly.”

Not sure whose responsibility it is, Sykes or cottage owner, but some information for The Crook where we have stayed several times needs updating. It states the village has 2 pubs which is incorrect...the General Burgoyne remains open but the other pub closed well before COVID.”
“The only two little points we picked up on were the lack of spare toilet rolls, there were none. And there was no shower mat for the bath/shower and it was very slippery.
Other than that the cottage was brilliant and Sykes service and support was second to none!”
“We loved our stay at Galena cottage, it was spacious, warm and welcoming and clean. The bedrooms had lovely views of the surrounding countryside , were nice and airy with lovely comfortable king size beds . Very well equipped kitchen with everything you need, and a cosy sitting room to relax, after a day's walk. It is also dog- friendly, our dog enjoyed chilling in the fluffy dog bed. Wardlow is a lovely location, not far from Monsal head and the Monsal trail , we enjoyed some great walks during our stay.”
“The Lodge was comfortable with a lovely greeting pack. Some light bulbs did not work but that was resolved quickly. The oven was a problem and we take meals to cook. The oven had to be lit using a match on your hands and knees. Not very satisfactory.”
“We spent a week at Honister Cottage. The cottage is conveniently located, and we were able to do a lot in the surrounding area. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We felt very comfortable and at home there from the very beginning!”
“Comfy cottage on a characterful cobbled street in centre of Alnmouth. Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. Lounge has lovely views of the sea from its picture windows. Very close to pubs, restaurants (Bistro 23!) and cafes. A great village feel with beaches all around.The walking is great.”
