“Very nice house easily accommodating 6 adults 2 children and 1 dog. Well equipped and especially appreciated having 4 en-suites as not all 4 bedroom properties have that. Excellent location for beach and the Landing cafe/bistro. Nice walk to local pubs and easy drive to Seahouses and Bamburgh.”
“Always an easy process. I like using the app which gives a good description of accommodation, easy payment and ongoing communication, with helpful reminders near the time of arrival and departure.”
“Comfortable, immaculately clean, the best equipped cottage we've stayed in. Big bedrooms with plenty of space for the 6 of us. Only 1 shower but we managed fine as it was only a weekend.
Quiet and secluded with peaceful views.
Enough parking for 3 small cars opposite.
Good location.
Helpful and friendly owner lives next door.
Really enjoyed our stay, definitely recommend”
“Sykes are reliable and the description of the cottages has always been spot on for us.
We once had to contact customer services, they were quick to respond and our query was answered.
Fantastic service.”
“I love this cottage … second time I’ve booked. It’s a mix of old cottage and modern kitchen. Beautiful log burner. Basic furnishings but everything you need and tidy and very clean. Huge secured grounds if you have dogs. Wonderful very local walks which are stunning all year round…. Both on the flat and small hills which show off the local views. Close to amenities too. The local Victorian spa village Strathpeffer and small town of Dingwall within 5 to 10 minutes drive. City of Inverness around 40 mins and if you love a drive in the country with even more spectacular views .. then a drive to Ullapool or the West Coast are easily within reach .. what’s not to like.”
“Booked Hard Days Night via Sykes for a long weekend with Partner, Daughter and Granddaughter and we all really enjoyed the property. It’s finished to a high standard and comes with everything you need . It’s in a great location pub next door, village shop and play area for the children.(1 minute walk) Mobile fish and chips on a Friday . Great kitchen Highly recommended. On site parking in dedicated area.”
“This is a beautiful, well equipped cottage in a peaceful setting.
It is very accessible for anyone with mobility issues, as it is all on one level.
The hot tub was a real bonus.
We have booked again to go next year 😀”
“Our stay at the Brambles was lovely, Very clean, all that we needed, lovely and peaceful grand dog walks, in the woods lovely golden autumn colours, The owner, was very helpful, nice treats left for us and the dog, Great Marg.”
“We loved staying at the Nook, walking up the cobbled street alleyway up the stairs to this beautiful, characterful, cosy little cottage was a highlight of our stay in Whitby. It is such a good location right in the centre of the Old Town, with quaint boutiques and bookshops and literally round the corner from the 199 steps up to St Mary’s Church and the Abbey.
I was thrilled to learn about the history of the White Horse & Griffin hotel and restaurant, which is on the corner of the alleyway up to the cottage. It is one of the oldest and most iconic properties on the east side of town, said to be haunted by many ghosts. It also has impressive literary associations, and was a meeting place for famous explorers like Captain James Cook and William Scoresby. This deep and palpable history was just what I was after, adding to the magic of our Halloween week in Whitby.
It was the busy goth weekend for the first weekend we were there, and although we loved the buzz it was a relief to come home to the quiet sanctuary of the Nook. The welcome tea, Yorkshire cake, tea biscuits and milk was a lovely welcoming touch. The only criticism I have is that the tiny freezer was completely frosted up so we couldn’t use it, and there were only two toilet rolls for a week. Usually, Airbnb’s provide enough toilet rolls for the duration of your stay, so I did think this was a bit mean. However, these are minor gripes compared to how much we loved staying here, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.”
“A beautifully appointed cottage sat in a stunning location. The cottage itself surpassed all expectations and was even more charming in person than the pictures I saw on the website when booking.
Situated beside a loch, there are excellent views of dolphins, harbour seals, and other wildlife. The interior features high-quality fixtures and fittings. The cottage remained warm and comfortable, even in November and amid the cold, rainy weather outside.
We arrived to find a few supplies in the fridge and the cupboards, along with a complimentary selection of some local gin and whisky, which was much appreciated.
I would definitely stay here again.”
