“This was a lovely spacious house on a high street with shops cafes and a fish & chip shop close by. When we arrived the bin outside was full I rang up to let them know we were told to leave our bin bags by the bin and the owner would collect them every day, this never happened we had about 6 bin bags around the bin. No facilities to recycle. On arrival the house was clean. The kitchen has a few problems half of the pans can’t be used on the induction hob. A comment to this effect was made in aug 24 and nothing has been rectified and there are a few other missing items needed in the kitchen. some of mattresses need replacing they are too hard. I would have liked a bath mat in the upstairs bath/shower I nearly slipped a few times. The garden had very comfortable furniture and a gas barbecue with no gas. We had to get the cushions out of the shed and there was a horrific blood stained mattress in there that’s needs to be disposed of.
Overall we had a nice week with lovely weather. If Sykes could iron out the problems at this house it would be much improved.”
“Absolutely perfect big holiday home right on the sea. Second stay and hope to be back next year. Very clean big box of goodies left for us nice touch just perfect place”
“We have recently returned from a week's stay at The Tractor Shed, in Kinnerley, Shropshire. It's location is very peaceful and the accommodation truely lovely-exactly as described and it definitely deserves it's gold star award from Sykes. The bathroom is amazing, better than in many "up-market" hotels we've stayed at, home and abroad. The Tractor Shed provided everything we needed for a very enjoyable and relaxing stay; long needed after many busy months at home. The weather was kind to us, not warm, but dry, so we were able to spend some time in the lovely outside sitting area. Wilson, our miniature schnauzer liked being out there with us. However, he absolutely loved just sitting and looking out of the full length window upstairs; a novelty for him. The views are far reaching and the only activity is the occasional vehicle passing or maybe a horse rider.
The delicious home made Victoria Sponge provided for our arrival was very welcome indeed after a long and, at times, very wet journey from Devon. Everything at The Tractor Shed is of high quality, clearly every attention to detail has been made and the numerous finishing touches are really lovely.
There's an easy walk (approx 30 minute) to
the Cross Keys pub in Kinnerley, where the staff are very friendly. We walked there on our first day, had a drink in the large garden
and booked a table for dinner on our last evening. The food was excellent (though not ordinary pub-grub) as was the service; I'd thoroughly recommend the salmon.”
“Our second visit to Owls Retreat & it was just as enjoyable as last time - the perfect base to explore the surrounding area.
Lovely grounds to walk your dogs - just be careful if they are off lead as the road outside is busy & the gates are open.
Would highly recommend this accommodation.”
“Booked a relaxing week away with friends and a few games of golf - hosts were amazing and checked in a few times during our stay to make sure we were ok. A great place to stay and lots to do in the area would recommend this and will look at booking again in the near future”
“A warm welcome with treats and some milk.
A pretty cottage in lovely surroundings and a great location to explore the coastline.
The attentive owner couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was perfect.”
“This place is absolutely AMAZING! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The cleanliness was outstanding, and every little detail had been thoughtfully prepared to make the stay comfortable and special.
You can truly find everything you could possibly imagine for a perfect holiday here. The accommodation is beautiful, cosy, and so relaxing. With a bit of luck and some sunshine, it honestly feels like a dream!
We had such a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect getaway. We will definitely come back here again!”
“Amazing location in the village of Grassington, great bars, restaurants and shops and location to visit other places or walk from (so lucky the week we were there they were filming All creatures great and small).
As for the Cottage it was lovely and really well priced, with all the amenities you could want including parking outside which other cottages did not have. Lots of touches like, milk, soap in bathroom, tissues in bathroom, quality towels, biscuits and teabags for us. Had a lovely surprise on arrival with box of chocolates and bottle of wine. We will definately go back - if I was being really really picky would have liked a smart TV , so we could have watched BBC Iplayer or logged into netflix etc (just that terestrial TV at that time of year is often poor) - but everything else was great so want stop us going back.”
“A great selection of properties with accurate listings and super easy booking process. My only observation is that conatcting Sykes, in the event of an issue especially in advance of the booking, is not as easy as it should be and this has led to unnecessary frustration. If this aspect could be improved, then I would have no hesitation in rating Sykes 5 stars.”
