“Very dark and cold on arrival, difficult to find, could do with outdoor lighting as the sensor lights didn’t work. No welcome package as other reviews stated so no first cuppa as I thought there would at least be some milk. Quaint little cottage in wonderful peaceful surroundings, loved the wood burner, amazing dog friendly pub 1 min drive away.
Disappointed that the cottage wasn’t dressed for Xmas,(12-14 dec) and only enough wood for the fire on one night and a small one the next morning, this isn’t stated in the add, it says fuel for fire included, and since it was very cold on our stay we had no choice but to buy two bags of wood. No microwave and the dehumidifier was flashing as full so couldn’t leave it running. We enjoyed our stay as made the most of exploring but wouldn’t book again .”

“This was the third year in a row we have stayed in this beautiful cottage and have already booked for 2026.
Our previous minor gripes regarding the quality of the cutlery and kitchen utensils have been addressed - thank you as we are avid home cooks. There was an absence of a corkscrew that caused a major panic however procured one in Grasmere which we donated to the cottage!
We also appreciated the fact that the drive to the cottage whilst still bumpy had been greatly improved.
This was the first year that noise from the main adjoining house could be heard although it was a very large group with children, however did not overly bother us.”

“Amazing little place. Had a fab time. Everything you need for a quiet relaxing break. The property had every thing you needed. Enclosed garden for the dog. Due to Storm Bram, tge fence was blown over so had to contact owner but this was rectified straight away. Will drfo be returning. Lovely little welcome hamper with dog treats aswell. Nice touch .”
“My wife and returned to Walton House Cottage for a pre-Christmas break. Christine had the cottage decorated like before. The cottage was lovely and warm and although the weather was wet the hot tub was wonderful. I fully expect we will return to Walton House Cottage in the not too distant future.”
