“Wonderful stay from start to finish, perfect weekend. The property is lovely and located in a beautiful area. Everything inside you could need for a home from home break, some lovely touches inside to enjoy! Would definitely recommend.”
“Location very good, it is within walking distance of Bourton-on-the-water. Wonderful weekend stay.
The wildlife is amazing we saw woodpecker, pheasants, blackbirds, great tits, blue tits, sparrows, heron along with other birds. We saw a muntjac.
The only negative would be the uncomfortable settee in the Lounge area.
We would definitely stay again.”
“Lovely cosy cottage, good heating system, great location with fantastic countryside and walking distance to the local village, everything you could want.”
“Unforgettable Stay in a Beautiful Setting
We had an absolutely amazing time at this holiday cottage! From the moment we arrived, the owner made us feel so welcome with their friendly and helpful nature.
The cottage itself was fantastic—neat, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. It had a lovely "home away from home" feel that made it easy to relax instantly. One of the highlights was the spacious garden; it provided plenty of room to unwind, and having the BBQ facilities was a brilliant bonus for evening meals.
To top it all off, the scenery surrounding the property is simply breathtaking. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.”
“Pleasant, private, generally clean cottage with comfortable beds and modern kitchen. Some crockery chipped and needs replacing. Oven also not fully cleaned. Pretty garden space and good location in central peaks.”
“We used Keel house in Whitby for a family 3 night break at Easter to celebrate milestone birthdays the place was spacious clean and comfortable. We all enjoyed our stay and will continue to use Sykes cottage’s properties in the future”
“Perfect accommodation for our girls weekend. Had everything we needed. Lovely to have a really fire going in the evening. Surrounding area was beautiful - managed a walk around Tittesworth Reservoir even though the weather wasn't great with a welcome coffee and cake at the end. Had an excellent meal at the Three Horsehoes pub down the road. Most welcoming and great food.
A couple of negatives - the hot tub switch didn't work very well. Took a few attempts to get it going. Also would benefit from a wind break/shelter as it is quite exposed up there, We had a windy weekend which meant the water cooled quickly. Lovely views when sat in it though!
Note that the road up to the farm is very rough. Not a problem if you are aware and drive slowly. We ordered a Sainsbury's delivery which had no trouble getting to us. A proper chilled out weekend.
Will come back again!”
“We had a wonderful stay at the beachfront bungalow, where we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday. Such a special place for a memorable occasion! The location is perfect just step away from the beach with a beautiful view of sea and the sunset.
The bungalow itself was cosy, spotless and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed. Wel equipped, We specially loved the outdoor space for relaxing in the morning and evening. Many thanks to Janet and Andy too, for the friendly, professional and kind communications. Making sure our stay was perfect.
A truly peaceful seaside space. We would love to stay again. Thank you”
“Liz and Tom gave us a very warm welcome.
The cottage was beautifully warm and Liz had made lovely scones with delicious jam.
We were very comfortable in the cottage, which was very well equipped.
Liz and Tom have researched many local walks.
Our thanks to Liz and Tom and we look forward to visiting again.”
“We have booked accommodation quite a few times through Sykes Cottages as there is so much choice, especially as we are looking for pet friendly properties. To be honest we have mainly had good properties which have matched their advertised description (with a couple of exceptions).
The reason I have given 4 stars is because of the difficulty I had with a past booking and getting through to an actual person in customer service rather than going through a chatbot it to discuss it.”
“Sykes Holidays used to be quite good and relaible. However over the last few year, they have become opaque and very difficult to communicate with. You get lots of e-mails from them after a booking, but they verge on the trite "don't forget to switch the lights off.."
I have a problem in that for my last booking, one of my guests left some sunglasses behind after we checked out. It should be a simple matter to ring someone up and ask if the sunglasses have been found. This seems impossible under your current service and your Chester number gives many options, none of which cover this situation.
Your service is so bad that after using you for many years, I shall now go elsewhere. You have managed to turn "Service" into corporate obfuscation.”
“A fabulous stay- the apartment was gorgeous and hosts so helpful. Felt private with a cute outdoor area. Little Stretton is absolutely adorable and two great pubs on the door step. Loved it!”
“The choice is great, they kept me informed right up until almost my time to go , then they lost my details from the app, which meant I couldn't get info of cottage or info on surrounding area, I also entered the competition of allows your nest cottage a discount and any previous cottages you have rented, gives you discount I've had 3 but they could only show the one which I had few years ago, I changed my password and still they can't find details otherwise happy with our cottage we stayed in,”
“We have been to South Boduel Farmhouse twice before, as it is an ideal size for our family of 7 adults and 2 children. There is so much space inside and a small garden and part of a field you can use with fruit trees, a pond and wild flowers in the hedges.
There was a problem with setting the thermostat on arrival, but that was soon rectified.
Remember to bring tea bags and milk with you, as it is about a 45 minute walk down a steep hill to Coombe and up an even steeper hill towards Liskeard Station and then to central Liskeard to find a shop.
We did make use of the few times a day that the Liskeard - Looe train stopped at Coombe Junction Halt. The trip to Looe is lovely.”
