“Great Location and Garden, but Cleanliness Needs Attention
We stayed at this cottage in November and loved the quiet location. We know the area well, and the cottage is close to a beautiful beach that has been a favourite of ours for many years. The garden was large and enclosed, which was perfect for our dog (though we did have to pick up three dog poos on arrival).
The cottage itself was warm, which was essential for a November stay, and the two bedrooms and bathroom were a good size. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed.
Unfortunately, the property was not as clean as we expected. There were spiderwebs with dead insects in the corners of rooms and in the bathroom, and dead flies next to the mugs in the kitchen. The tea towel and towels in the bedroom didn’t look clean, so we didn’t use them. There was also a definite mould problem throughout. The bathroom grout had a lot of black mould, and it looked like some areas had been covered with a grout pen. The blinds in the upstairs bedroom had mould on them, and there was a musty smell throughout the cottage. When we returned home, the smell had clung to our belongings, and we had to wash everything, even items we hadn’t worn.
I don’t like leaving negative reviews, and we would have made this a regular place to stay because of the location and garden, but the mould and lack of cleanliness were too significant to overlook.”
