“To be honest sykes gave last property 4 stars when you get there it was more 3 stars and as skyes was managing the property we had a problem with hot water and central heating it went off on the Sunday of our stay, skyes did ring back half hour later but my husband had rectified it and was told we would get a call back the next day which never came 2 days later we had a call unrelated to see how our holiday was going and we got told well it was Sunday did you ring the emergency number of course we did but if we had still been waiting for a call back and still had the problem which we did on numerous occasions but we just dealt with it ourselves our property had damp on walls and smelt really musty on arrival no welcome pack last 2 properties we have booked through sykes haven't been rated correctly but thats just our opinion”
“I was delayed by the Iran issue and made many attempts to contact Sykes by WhatsApp to change my booking dates. It normally took 2 days to get a reply and when the reply came it failed to resolve the issue. I tried the WhatsApp avenue again on 2 more occasions and got different staff every time. Each new staff did not know/understand the issue. I finally contacted the owner who resolved the matter immediately. I would not recommend Sykes as a booking agent. Very disappointing and poor customer service.”
“Lovely place to stay, excellent location to beach and town. Plenty of parking, two good sized baths and great garden. Only two very small negative notes and that’s the extremely small bath towels and quite dingy dark garage.”

“We enjoyed our short break at this cottage. There is a pub (not open for food Monday and Tuesday) and a really good shop in the village. Convenient for accessing walks around Haytor and local area. The cottage itself is excellently equipped with everything you will need, including books and games for rainy days.”

“The White Lion Retreat was a lovely place to stay. Cosy, comfortable and very well equipped.
We didn't get to have our full holiday. The retreat was great, Sykes on the other hand, let us down.
My dad was very ill on the day we were due to arrive and we asked Sykes if there was any chance we could move the booking to a later date. We appreciate this was a long shot and understood when they rang back to say the owner said no.
We then went on the holiday a day later whilst my dad was feeling a little better. We met the owner when we arrived and we're shocked to hear that they hadn't been contacted to ask about the change of date at all!!!
We had to leave 2 days earlier than planned as my dad took a turn for the worse. He has since sadly passed away.
We have used Sykes Cottages on numerous occasions without any issues, we only requested a change of date and were very happy to pay any extra needed to secure a later date. I have to admit to feeling very let down by Sykes!”

Having it's own car parking spot was a massive plus as most don't and they've recently had it done with fresh concrete so it's easy to drive on and park etc.
The place itself had everything you needed and at a very reasonable price. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return! Thankyou for a great holiday 😊”
