I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the salesman on the original call, to the point that I signed up. However, from there the communications went a bit quiet. I had to chase the progress of my application and some months later I got another sales call trying to upsell me H&S support. I said well, before I even consider another purchase, you had better sort out my outstanding application!!! He made some calls, and I received my accreditation a few days later. The team were helpful throughout, just clearly very busy and not enough staff. I would use them again but be more forceful with timelines.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation! Our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. To make the process faster next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal, ready for when the questionnaire can be submitted 30 days before expiry. Please accept our apologies for any issues caused by the delay this year. If you have any further queries about how this works then please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team directly.

The process for me has taken a lot of time, I believe that I received an email on 1st April to say to update the online information. Which I submitted on the 14th April (expiry was the 15th April), to THEN be told it would take 20-24 days to review! Then someone 'reviewed' the submission. I received feedback - some of which was incorrect. When it actually was seen to be approved that part was quick. But it has now overall (and I know I didn't reply as quickly as I could!) taken 2 months to be accredited. And during that time I have received 3 emails asking for payment for the renewal. When the renewal is 31st July! We are still in June!

I have used Safecontractor for several years now, providing the same service but this year there were many more requirements than previous years required as minimums. The staff I dealt with were very nice and helpful throughout the process. The clients I needed safe contractor accreditation for, I no longer work with so having my accreditation is a nice to have and at the end of the process I was questioning if I will go through the process next year. I don’t understand why I was being asked for so many items more than previous. So staff communication 4/5 but new additional requests 2/5 overall happy I have the accreditation but questioning if I would be willing to do again with what feels like the goal posts moving.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. Many client organisations choose to work with us because SafeContractor goes beyond the 14-point core SSIP criteria to ask risk-based questions tailored to contractor’s business profile.

Not the most pleasing experience as when providing the information via the portal, there is always something else required that was not requested in the first place. Every year we end up doing two or three more submissions! I would like to enquire why there is no recognition of a Company's compliance with BS ISO 45001:2018 accredited by a UKAS Independent Auditor?

Every year it gets more and more difficult to please the team at Safe contractor and every year they put the price up. It really isn't very good value for money. Had to argue and argue for a better price and still they put it up. They have no idea of how hard it is running a business at present (have they forgotten Covid already and do they not watch the news about the financial difficulties everyone is in) and seem to think being a safe contractor customer is vitally important to all businesses. If they increase the price yet again next year then I will be opting out as hardly any of my customers really think it's very important, especially as I have a really good health and safety policy in place anyway. They need to take a serious look at the way they treat regular customers, especially on pricing and as the customers have to give up loads of time to get all the ridiculous documents Safe contractor asks for sorted out it really is a joke. No stars I'm afraid from me.

This is our 5/6th Year with SafeContractor and found the process very difficult to gain accreditation. The category our business falls into required us to have CDM's (Construction) which we could not provide due to our scope of works so had to change category to non construction. Feedback to SafeContractor to look at the various categories for scope of works moving forward. We hold many quality accreditations throughout the Company and are regularly audited and achieve re-certification every time. Will be re-thinking this accreditation next year.

A long drawn out process which wasted a lot of time. They also requested that we instigated processes that would financially affect the business, and that were not required by law.

Certain evidence was not not requested at the initial stage, which delayed the overall assessment and meant our accreditation lapsed for a few extra days - this could have been avoided. Also, only have of the assessment was checked, and I only discovered an error at my end when I chased up the assessment. Nothing had been sent from Santia, which result in the accreditation lapsing. Once this was addressed, it was cleared up quickly.

My experience is of e mails that are not replied to, missed appointments with no explanation and unreturned phone calls, all after payment was made. The only professional interaction was with Megan and her professionalism is what I expected. I am waiting for a reschedled meeting this Friday at 11.00am for a sustainability questionnaire. It remains to be seen if he will make the call this time. The reason for not responding to my e mail and not keeping our appointment was his "his in box was crazy and full".

Only seem to hear from SafeContractor when the money was due for Re-Accreditation. Not much help throughout the rest of the year. However, it is good to get accreditations for your company. I would like to get more assistance throughout the year. Quite costly compared to other accreditations. On a positive note, SafeContractor is very thorough with the initial process & aims for a high standard of Health & Safety.

I feel the renewal process is far too overcomplicated. I understand to achieve the initial accreditation a considerable amount of documentation and evidence is required, however, the renewal process needs to be streamlined. Having recently gone through the process, I found myself having to submit documentation already submitted initially, for example, procedures, policies, training certificates, the focus should only be any changes and updated information that has an expiry date, for instance, an insurance certificate, QHSE Policy etc. All the accreditations we hold, such as our ISO certificates, FPAL, Achilles, ISN, F4N to name but a few all accept documentation already submitted and focus on compliance and improvements. I was contacted by a pre-auditor to provide a whole library of evidence, most of which was submitted the previous year. A few emails later, as I suspect the individual did not fully understand the evidence submitted, I was then contacted by the auditor. Again further evidence was requested, some of which had already been submitted to the pre-auditor. In short, the Safecontractor renewal process is far too over-complicated and in essence, is nothing short of applying for accreditation from scratch.

Very frustrating that portal to renew is only opened only 4 weeks prior to expiry - when the renewal docs are not audited for several weeks. However, when the auditor finally reviewed our documentation she was very very helpful :). She was excellent- professional and friendly.

Hi IKM Network Communications Ltd, Thank you for your feedback. We truly value the insights we receive from our customers, and in response to your feedback, we've made an improvement. Previously, you could submit the renewal questionnaire 30 days before your expiry date. Now, we've extended that window to 60 days before expiry, giving you an additional 30 days to complete the submission. We hope this change makes a positive difference as you prepare for next year! Best regards, SafeContractor

Not the easiest process for sole traders who are all roles in the company as one, something seems to change every year with the process. This year our method statements were not adequate but have been adequate for the past 3 years.

The assessment carried out by the Auditor is fine and professionally applied however the process is poor and frustrating, please consider: 20/12/21 Questionnaire released with follow up invitation to submit issued on 21/12/21 with a link that did not work. 22/12/21 questionnaire duly completed and submitted for assessment. 23/12/21 message received informing that our certificate expires on 11/1/22 but “if you pay an extra £156 we can speed the assessment process up ensuring it's in the front of the queue on 4th January” following Xmas break - really ! 12/1/22 received notification that safe PQQ had been passed however it was not until the 24/1/22 was the first feed back was received concerning safe contractor in which additional information not requested in the original questionnaire of the 20/12/21 was asked for , not clarification but entirely different information, some 32 days for this request ? The additional information was immediately submitted and on 28/1/22 the auditor requested clarification on one piece of evidence, the safety policy. this was immediately provided and on 2/2/22 we were notified that we had passed the assessment. In consideration of the above the 20 working day turnaround offered was clearly not achieved, the release of the questionnaire was late on 20/12/21 relative to the expiry of our certificate on 11/1/22, the first look through carried out in preparation for the auditor to determine what additional information to the questionnaire was required was far too late in the process on 24/1/22 and the offer to expedite the whole process made on the 23/12/21 some 3 days after issue of the questionnaire knowing our certificate expired on the 11/1/22 looks at best opportunistic. when discussing via email with the account manager it's suggested "you can submit questionnaire any time of the year " not sure how that reconciles with the annual release of the questionnaire? Respectfully suggest somebody needs to look closely at the process and to repeat the audit itself is diligent and professional.

found it difficult to contact an advisor to discuss questions raised during the accreditation. We do not agree with having to pay for SafePPQ when we did not request it and do not want it. Just seems like a money making scheme.

To be honest I did feel that the auditor was being slightly pedantic in her approach, I received the help needed to get accreditation which was really beneficial. This year I was asked for documentation on particular that I hadn’t in previous years { 1 in particular was asked for the CV of my H&S advisor, never been asked for that before. 2 was asked to fill in an inspection form, again in previous years I have never been asked for this) Business is stressful enough at the moment with our added complications of someone being so pedantic. My apologies but you did ask. Thanks Kevin

It’s an online assessment that show a customer you can provide a basic safety standard on paper. They don’t carry onsite audits so can’t say it’s going to show you operate on site safely. We carry out onsite assessment with an independent H&S assessor which has much more value. Heyho it ticks a box
