Staff were helpful when we spoke to them but could be slow at responding to telephone contacts if they were unavailable

Service was slow, and difficult to get hold of anyone to push our submission through. Telephone line was not working (due to staff training the message said) when trying to chase. That said the staff on the helpline number were curteous and helpful when i did get through although unable to directly do anything they had to refer it on to others.

Take too long to commence and send questionnaire. And always pushing for express accreditation fee to be paid to expedite. Service should be quicker without necessity to pay a fee to expedite, thus only acceptable score.

Our accrediation expired on the 14th December 2023. Although we had provided all the required paperwork and completed the online form by the middle of November 2023, it wasn't looked at until after the 14th Dec 2023. This resulted in a gap in our accredication which subsiquently affects some of our contracts. It would be much more benefical to us not to have a gap in our membership. Is there a way this could be set up? Any information you could provide would be appreicated.

Hi P&H Cleaning & Support Services Limited T/A P&H Cleaning Company, Thank you for your feedback. We truly value the insights we receive from our customers, and in response to your feedback, we've made an improvement. Previously, you could submit the renewal questionnaire 30 days before your expiry date. Now, we've extended that window to 60 days before expiry, giving you an additional 30 days to complete the submission. We hope this change makes a positive difference as you prepare for next year! Best regards, SafeContractor

Every year we find the process relentless. We provide all the documents as specified only to be asked for additional documentation weeks later, or to be asked for documents which has already been supplied. The rate goes up year on year, but I do not see any benefit at this stage with Safecontractor. Please also look at the questions you ask below. It is for a courier services? Completely noy relevant to Safecontractor or are you a courier service as well?

No problem with issuing the accreditation documentation. But due to the first date we were allowed to submit our documentation/questionnaire was the 18th December, which we did, and then received an email from yourselves saying it will be reviewed within 20 working days. Because it was Christmas, that 20 working days took the review date to more the end of January and not the expiry date of 18th January. It may be beneficial to issue an earlier date to submit our questionnaire if it falls on the Christmas break.

Everybody I spoke to was great and very helpful and the application submission process itself was easy. However the overall process, specifically the review times left me with a slight sour taste. The initial application takes 20 working days to be reviewed, the the secondary review takes 5 days. This is 25 working days. Considering the application can only be submitted 30 days, not working days, just 30 days before it runs out this almost guarantees your old accreditation will run out for a week or two before it gets re-accepted.... Unless you pay to have it fast tracked...

I had a very poor experience with Safe Contractor. I was moved between 5 different reps, each telling me different things that were wrong with my application. Parts of my application were refused even though they were put forward on the templates i was sent. When i eventually took on the services of Alcumus Workforce( at a cost a small business can ill afford) i was granted my accreditation thankfully, despite the fact the templates were different from the originals. I would like to thank Richard Jones of Alcumus Safe contractor for his great help in resolving my issues and the continued support of Jacqueline Thomas of Alcumus workforce

This is geared towards the construction industry, which we are not! Most of the questions are irrelevant to sole traders or self-employed.

I think the actual questionnaire should be clearer - sometimes it doesn't not ocver what needs to be submitted and also allow for multiple document upload. I also think having ISO accreditations should significantly reduce the H&S questions, as these are covered under the ISO audits. We only complete the Safecontractor process for a few customers, it is a lot of requests just for a desktop audit.

Good Afternoon Mobile & Separation Equipment Ltd t/a MSE Hiller, Thank you very much for taking time to leave a review. Congratulations on gaining your accreditation! I am sorry to hear that in this instance you felt our service fell short of your expectations in regard to the questionnaire being clearer and document upload. Our questionnaire should allow for multiple documents to be uploaded onto a particular question, however time occur when you are trying to upload a file and the system does not let you. The reason for this could be the file type/size as we only allow for certain file types/size on the questionnaire. There is a way to reduce the amount of questions that you have, this is through a process called "deem to satisfy". This process means that you can use any SSIP provider's certificate in order to gain another. Looking on the SSIP portal your current ISO is not broadcasted onto the SSIP portal so we would not be able to use this certificate for the deemed to satisfy process. The feedback you have given will be passed onto the relevant teams to review. In addition to your accreditation you can take also advantage of some great member benefits, they can be found here - https://www.safecontractor.com/benefits/ Best Wishes, Rhys

It was a deem to satisfy verification so the time scales for accreditation should not be the same as a normal verification - otherwise what is the point of the organisation you consistently promote SSIP?

Good Afternoon Ellis Electrical Ltd, Thank you very much for taking time to leave a review. Congratulations on gaining your accreditation! In terms of our timeframes they are always measured on the package you take out with us, not based upon the type of questionnaire you complete. The advantage of competing a deem to satisfy questionnaire is that it shortens the question set, as particular questions have already been answered within your full accreditation. Also, you can also obtain certain discounts with certain providers - please use this link to view the discounts offered - https://ssip.org.uk/ssip-deem-to-satisfy-chart/ In addition to your accreditation you can take also advantage of some great member benefits, they can be found here - https://www.safecontractor.com/benefits/ Best Wishes, Rhys

Good Morning Acorns floors limited, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Congratulations on becoming accredited! I am sorry to hear that you felt the process was long winded. Just so that you know, your questionnaire is open all year round for you to fill in and upload documents, it becomes available to submit 30 days prior to the expiry date of your current certificate, this is to enable you to get ahead and usually allows us enough time to review your file before the current certificate expires. We also offer basic support no matter what package you are on and our assisted and premier package with 121 support if it is needed. I hope that this information will be helpful for your questionnaire renewal. If you require any further information about this please do not hesitate to get in touch. In addition to your accreditation you can take also advantage of some great member benefits, they can be found here - https://www.safecontractor.com/benefits/ Best Wishes, Charlotte

At times it can be slightly onerous with the gathering and uploading of data. But if you stay on top of loading certificates, policies etc as they are renewed through out the year this helps.

I feel as a small business that Safe Contractor is geared toward medium to large companies. For a sole trader, some of the aspects do not apply. I believe the whole process should be reviewed with this in mind.

Much better process than in 2022 when the reviewer had not done the slightest bit of work to find out what the business was about. In 2023 there was another opportunity for Safe Contractor to make a mess of it again with multiple individuals 'pitching in' clearly without reading any of the background. There really should be more 'joined up thinking' in the business. Weren't Safe Contractor supposed to have Account Managers? Well that never happened.

We used to be accredited a few years ago, but gave up with the Alcumus portal as the process was cumbersome and our data was deleted on two occasions. We gained accreditation with another SSIP member and due to a client request, we had to carry out the DTS process. However, even this was unnecessarily long-winded and in our view out of step with the principle of SSIP equivalence with other providers requiring less of a repeat of the full accreditation process.

Good Afternoon Roywood Contractors, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Positive or negative, we do always appreciate your feedback. Firstly, Congratulations on gaining your accreditation! I am sorry to hear that in this instance you felt our service fell short of your expectations. The DTS process with us means that when you use another provider's SSIP certificate it will shorten our question set. Even with a DTS we require some information from you as we tailor the questionnaire to fit you as a company based on the work activities had been selected. We endeavour to adapt our question set and approach to meet all business needs, I will certainly pass on your valued feedback to the relevant department. Very very slow. Although you can add documents throughout the year, you can't submit until a certain date, but then the checking takes so long that every year, the certificate is well out of date before the new one is approved and customers are chasing us every year for the updated document.

Hi MR D M Arnold, Mrs A Arnold and Mr M W Sadowski t/a Waterwide, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Positive or negative, we do always appreciate your feedback. Congratulations on gaining your accreditation! I am sorry to hear that in this instance you felt our service fell short of your expectations. At SafeContractor we do operate a queue system owing to the volume of accounts we have to process. To counter this, we do offer a variety of packages dependant on the needs of our contractors. For example, those who are happy to wait don't need to upgrade, but for businesses where there is urgency the express package is more appropriate. I will be sure to pass your feedback on to the relevant department.
