I paid for a premium service where I should get a response within 48 hours I believe. This was not met, in the first instance it was nearly 2 weeks before I heard back. Then the category I was accredited for was not viable this year and another had to be chosen as the other was incorrect, so I was accredited for a year under a category that was unviable for me. The whole system is poor!

Firstly, Congratulations on gaining your accreditation and going through the process with us! We’re disappointed to learn that you found the Premier Package did not cater for your company – on this package the 48 hours that you have mentioned refers to the initial contact from our technical team after submission not before. Upon reviewing your account the reason you did not get this initial contact within this timeframe is because your questionnaire was submitted late and then passed to straight to our auditors for the main review to expedite the process. In this instance however you should have received an email stating that this process has happened so I apologise if you have not received this email from us. I appreciate in this instance this package may have fallen below your expectations and that your understanding of what was part of the service may have been miscommunicated, as such I would happy to credit the cost of the premier package for your renewing next year if you wish to renew. I am more than happy to arrange a call with one of our team who might be able to talk you through what categories you were accredited for? I feel as a small business that Safe Contractor is geared toward medium to large companies. For a sole trader, some of the aspects do not apply. I believe the whole process should be reviewed with this in mind.

It is very repetitive. Too many people get involved and they all seem to ask for the same information. Plus, this time, I was told twice - a week apart that I had been awarded the certificate. Not sure why.

Our process goes from a pre-audit completed by our Technical Support Officers then passed to our Main Auditors who completed the full assessment, there can be cross over with this process as each team will look for different information within what you have provided. In terms of the reason that you have been told that you have been awarded the certificate twice. Looking at your account the emails could be relating to both the Health and Safety and Sustainability Certificates as you have completed both questionnaires with us this year. We were a bit behind with our accreditation due to work commitments, we let them know the issues we were facing and SafeContractor gave us the extension we needed to pull everything together. They were really helpful and supportive.

Much better process than in 2022 when the reviewer had not done the slightest bit of work to find out what the business was about. In 2023 there was another opportunity for Safe Contractor to make a mess of it again with multiple individuals 'pitching in' clearly without reading any of the background. There really should be more 'joined up thinking' in the business. Weren't Safe Contractor supposed to have Account Managers? Well that never happened.

We used to be accredited a few years ago, but gave up with the Alcumus portal as the process was cumbersome and our data was deleted on two occasions. We gained accreditation with another SSIP member and due to a client request, we had to carry out the DTS process. However, even this was unnecessarily long-winded and in our view out of step with the principle of SSIP equivalence with other providers requiring less of a repeat of the full accreditation process.

The DTS process with us means that when you use another provider's SSIP certificate it will shorten our question set. This is year 7 for me as a one man labour only company, the first 4 years were the worst but once you negotiate, know the process, get the right people in house, use last year's info it isn't too painful.

During the review process we had some issues brought up by the auditors but on review they had either not read our information correctly or mis read information for the money and time it takes to complete the whole process i would of hoped a bit more attention to detail from safe contractor auditors. Other then this the process was quite straight forward.

Very very slow. Although you can add documents throughout the year, you can't submit until a certain date, but then the checking takes so long that every year, the certificate is well out of date before the new one is approved and customers are chasing us every year for the updated document.

At SafeContractor we do operate a queue system owing to the volume of accounts we have to process. To counter this, we do offer a variety of packages dependant on the needs of our contractors. For example, those who are happy to wait don't need to upgrade, but for businesses where there is urgency the express package is more appropriate.
