About Rohan:

Rohan is a much loved and iconic British travel and outdoor clothing brand with a heritage spanning more than four decades. Established by two outdoor enthusiasts in North Yorkshire in 1972, Rohan set out to challenge the status quo. With five founding principles that clothing should always be protective, lightweight, packable, versatile and easy-care, Rohan radically re-thought the way people dressed for the outdoors.

I heartily agree with other reviewers: your new microgrid fleece fabric, with its slippery inner surface, is not a patch on the previous fabric and you should consider reverting to the old style. I have loved & worn these snuggly tops for years. However, the fabric next to one’s skin, needs to be soft, fluffy, warm & welcoming, as before - not shiny & cold. The clue lies in the name - it’s a fleece! And please bring back some brighter colours - the magenta colour was fab. Thanks for listening.

My microgrid jacket was delivered promptly. I’m very pleased with it’s light weight and therefore ordered another.

Good styles and materials, some colour choices do not appeal, particularly check shirts and bright orange, stay with grey, blue and blacks. Also expensive, I only buy at a discount.

Prompt efficient service. Just feel it's a bit mean to charge postage particularly for regular loyal customers.

Generally always very happy shopping on line at Rohan but returns are slow with no communication of return being processed.

This is my 2nd Sanctuary blouse. I liked the last one and decided to buy another, mainly because of your sizing policy. It is a size 14 which I knew would fit perfectly. Sadly, almost all of your tops tee-shirts, blouses, fleeces and coats now only come in Small, medium, large etc. Your medium size says it is suitable for 12 to 14. Generally it is not! It is slightly too small. The large size (16 to 18) is far too big. There is far too big a difference between the sizes. There must be many customers who fall between sizes. What is the logic of combining 2 sizes for the top half of your body yet retaining individual sizes for trousers?! I have many Rohan products and like them very much …but unless things change I am not going to be able to buy many in the future. Pleeeease reconsider your lack of size choice!

I have been shopping at Rohan for the last 20 years. I am frequently abroad in sometimes austere environments, and need clothes that are functional as well as presentable. I am generally happy with the clothes and equipment that I have purchased from Rohan, but would like to feed back about some issues that I have had. I really like the Rohan travel jeans, which have good pockets, are light and easy to wash. I actually bought the first type of Rohan jeans which were truely awful, and despatched to the charity shop, but the fit, material and look of the jeans has improved markedly. they do wear out on the seat, and this has happened to several pairs, which limits their lifetime. I also cherish my progress polo shirts, which i find very comfortable in tropical and desert environments and also reasonably warm in the winter as well. I wear my light winter semi formal jacket pretty much all the year round. the windproof jacket i bought recently(windstorm fleece) is great, but could have been improved with elasticated or velcro cuffs, and also would benefit from having another drawstring just above the pocket level, which would help with insulation, and cosmetically, stop the material bulging forwards, giving the wearer the impression of a beer belly prolapsing outwards. i have found the equipment range useful - both lifeventure and eagle creek. the cubes for packing, as well as the wheeled expanse luggage range are practical. i realise that Rohan has to alter ranges to suit different seasons and has to introduce new styles to remain contemporary, but there seems to be some throwing out of the baby with the bathwater. some lines are ended when they remain desirable, and this is frustrating. I have six progress polo shirts and would buy more, but these are no longer available. The gingham shirts also seem to be unavailable in the past after a short run. when i make an investment in a travel suit, it is frustrating not to be able to find replacement trousers, which wear out more quickly, as the colour range has changed again. surely, the range of colours for formal suits doesnt need to be changed from shade to shade with every season? we buy them for practicality - pockets and relatively easy care - and dont need to have a vast range of colours.

Usually impressed by all Rohan gear but latest pair of jeans disappointing with threads coming up within a few days of wearing.

Rohan is fine, but Rohan's delivery system is shocking. I paid for delivery to my home, not to Sainsburys 5 miles away. DPD did nit try to leave it in a safe place (like the greenhouse) and the packge anyway was small enough to be put through the letterbox, They did not try this either. Simply not good enough.

Rohan products have always been well made using good fabrics some of which seem to last for ever. However, the design side appears to have moved away from focusing on active outdoor life and towards more trendy designs presumably in the hope of widening the market appeal. As an example, the Traverse trousers are well made but spoilt by a deep thigh pocket on the front rather than the side. Anything in it bangs just above the knee at every step. It seems inconceivable that this design was tested by any outdoor enthusiast before it was put into production. Another example is the Ascent jacket. Why design the flaps protecting the pockets to face forward so that any driving rain is directed into the pockets and it becomes more difficult to put your hands in? Rohan risks losing its traditional followers who appreciate intelligently designed products for use in all weathers. These lapses and changes to well established designs make checking in store before buying more important and online purchasing more risky.

The service online is fast & efficient, the staff in the shops are friendly and helpful. The clothes (if you choose the right ones for you) fit well and are long-lasting. Sometimes I think the colours can be a bit uninteresting, or limited in range, especially for men.

Often well made articles that tend to last a long time. Their designers don't seem to need to put mobile phones in their pockets.

I bought a Frostpoint Men's Jacket in, Tarn Blue. I like the jacket, it's light but warm and the colour is nice, much less garish than some. I exchanged my original medium purchase for a large fitting [I'm only 5'9" and slim, in my 70s !] as it was too tight over a sweater and I want it for mild, dry winter days. There was no problem about the exchange and they only charged it at the original full discount price I'd paid even though the discount had been reduced. I haven't yet tested its water resistance. The only thing I would criticise is the rather odd collar that seems to poke my neck/chin when zipped up, the medium size was worse.

I bought winter bags which are wonderful. What is not so wonderful was their cost. £15 and £20 delivery and then nearly £30 in tariffs, plus charges on our French debit card for paying in £s. We can no longer use our english debit/credit cards in France as we not have an English mobile number (thanks Co-op Bank!). I will be wary about buying in the future.
