I just found the tutor didn't really help as much as I thought they should never checked to see how it was going .

Poor experience. First tutor I had was absolutely lovely except the college change my tutors without telling me. The newer tutor gave me little to no advice when I asked about my course and continued to tell me I wasn't allowed to use the course materials in my work (which id paid for). Went months without progressing as my emails to head office were being ignored when I was having problems receiving feedback.

Overall the course was very informative and helped me to learn a lot in my specific area. I found the course lessons didn’t really cover what was expected in the assignments. The assignments didn’t state the full details needed for a pass. My personal tutor was helpful when she finally got back to you. It would take at least 4 days to even answer a question and on a few occasions she took over a week to mark an assignment, with which I then had to message her to ask her when she would be marking it. Due to the delays of marking the course expired, where the tutor said she couldn’t mark it because it had expired. I then had to ring up and complain that it wasn’t my fault it had expired, she had had the assignments back in plenty of time to mark them. This was resolved and the customer service people were lovely, but I feel that you shouldn’t have to keep on at them, when you are paying good money for the course.

Assignments had to be far too long for a level 2 course. I’ve done level 2 courses at college and level 3s and that course was level 3 standard for sure. After a while of doing the assignments I got rather bored because the tutor kept coming back with the same stuff and some stuff like you need to say what gender it’s for - why does that matter? When I failed first time round in all the assignments the high school student teacher was helpful.

Couse was good but felt tutor could have explained more when seeking help. Also felt our tutor Jenny took too long to mark work especially towards the end. Had to pay extra twice because of this. When I called didn't get much support. Not happy with service. Will not be recommending OL college to friend as of this experiences.

I thought the service provided by the OLC was very poor. Their website says you don’t need any additional materials but you 100% need to purchase extra materials in order to complete the assignments and to pass the course. Furthermore, the tutor was not very helpful. Their website says they will reply in a few hours but the fastest response was three days and was often longer. At Christmas time I waited for an entire month for a reply. Also, the tutor’s actual feedback seemed like she was not even reading my work before giving the feedback. She would say I needed to write about X, Y, and Z when in fact I had wrote many paragraphs about X and Y and only needed to include one extra point about Z - made the feedback very impersonal, almost as if it had just been copied and pasted from the grading criteria. This is just a few of the points I did not like about OLC. Wouldn’t use them again.

I found the course to be way more intensive than advertised, my tutor to be evasive and the overall experience stressful and I will not be completing another course with OLC.

The course wasn’t too bad but the tutor I had assigned to me was extremely unhelpful. My assignments were scrutinised beyond what was acceptable and she repeatedly insisted they be rewritten. When questioned about this, other tutors that I know said my work was excellent and should have been passed without question. Extremely unprofessional

Hi Clare, We are really sorry you feel this way and that you were not provided with the appropriate support from your tutor. Kind regards, OLC

The course was okay, I did the nail technician and business level 3. The course material does need to have spell check and someone to generally read over the information to make sure that it makes sense. For example in the nail technician level 3 course, while explaining how to apply nails it uses the word anecdote which does not fit in with nails at all, the intended word was acetone, and if someone didn’t know that they would have got the wrong information.

Many of the links were broken; a lot of the information in the course material was outdated (e.g. legislation; nutritional guidelines) or misleading, there was little guidance on what to include in the assignments, and when contacted the tutor did not always answer the questions that had been asked.

I didn't find them very supportive. The start and end date of completion not very clear. They fined me double each month I went over despite having good reason for extension

When I paid and enrolled in the course I was not aware it would not fully qualify me. So the qualification is actually pointless. Also had to pay £60 to get my last assignment marked because my course had ran out? However my tutor took nearly a week some times to reply so I could have had it completed on time. I also had no date of when my course ended so was unaware.

(CACHE Level 3 Award In Childcare And Education) - Posted 5 years ago
Good Afternoon, Thank you for leaving a review and well done on the completion of your course. Please note that student's are made well aware before enrolling that this qualification does not offer a licence to practice with children upon completion, as it is only a CACHE award it is simply all knowledge based this is clearly stated on the website also for everyone to see. Secondly, it is also stated in a section as proof on the website that if student's do run out of time to complete the course, there is a fee of £60 for one month extra time to complete your studies. You are also informed that tutor's can take anywhere between 2-4 working days to get back to you with feedback, simply because of us being closed due to weekends, it can put tutor's behind when replying, and please bare in ind they do have a high volume of student's to see to. So you must have all your work handed in and also passed within this time frame. You have 12 months to complete your course from the date you enrolled, this is also shown on the course description online, and we expect student's to ensure this is done, as it is their own responsibility to keep track of when their course is due to run out. I hope this clears up some issues. Kind Regards, OLC
