“Never would advise anyone to use Mrclutch they intimidate you and bully you saying car needs this car needs that, Don’t like to accept there in the wrong and expect you to accept a gesture of Good will £50 to take down your review immediately plus star rating when we all entitled to our opinions, refuse to pay out for there mistakes and Reading branch of Mrclutch, stay well clear”
“I used Swindon branch for some time for small jobs until mechanic severely damaged my newly refurbished shock absorber whilst fitting causing damage to the seals. Component failed instantly. Head of Customer Service denies responsibility acusing me of supplying faulty part. Beware!!!
My car blue Mercedes E350 was booked to Swindon branch on 20/08/2020. My initials are LR. I do have an invoice which will be provided on request of reviews.co.uk
Please, be serious Mr Clutch!!!”
“I've posted a 3* rating simply because I believe that a -5 wouldn't get posted.
I would say AVOID Mr. Clutch and here's my experience with them at the Southampton branch.
I rang and made an appointment to have the clutch changed on my Chrysler Voyager, I was told they could do the job on a Wednesday and they would need the car for one day. This is a normal working day for me so I had to arrange to take a day off from work which didn't sit too well with my employer, anyway I arrived at the centre at around 8 a.m. and waited for the shop to open. I assume it was the shop manager who arrived first and he approached me sat in my car, in his best English ( I'm assuming he was possibly Polish) he tells me there is a problem for my car and that he cannot fix it as the parts from China have not arrived and not available for 3 weeks. I asked why he didn't phone to tell me this the evening before, he replied that he did not know the parts would not arrive, so I questioned how did he know the parts weren't here as he hadn't yet opened the shop, he said he knew before, so back to my first question " so why didn't you ring me then?" he then became agitated and began ranting about not being able to get gloves or anything else because it was all coming from China and was late because of Covid-19.
Ok, I thought to myself, I'll just have to wait 3 weeks then, so I ask if he can order a clutch and fit it when it arrives in 3 weeks time, no this is not possible he replied.
With that I left thinking I may have dodged a bullet anyway, I really didn't expect my car to be fitted with an inferior Chinese made clutch anyway which would probably not last very long. So I'm not sorry I didn't get anything done, I'm raging that there was no communication and that I lost a day's work unnecessarily, and I wouldn't recommend Mr. Clutch to anyone unless you're happy to have inferior quality parts fitted and accept shoddy service”
“I dont think sharing the whole situation on here would be good but its been a terrible experience with Mr Clutch Slough. The service was not great, the communication between employees is terrible. In all honestly Mr Clutch are great until they make a mistake. Once that happens, they take no responsibility and lie to head office.
Mr Clutch pushed me away by bribing me to accept a settlement and not come to the store again. The store manager does not know how to handle a dispute and will never admit any errors.
I had 4 major changes - EGR Valve, Turbo, throttle and general parts. The whole job had taken 3 months causing me to go back and forth to fix their mistakes, replacing wrong parts, advising incorrectly, investigating the situation with minimum effort. This company caused a huge loss but the worst bit is i was referred to as the liar. Imagine being without a car for a week because Mr Clutch making mistakes with fittings and then have the audacity to say to head office they found no 'wrong doings'
In a nutshell i have been banned from My Clutch after spending over £1500 with them. Truth of the matter is if fitting and work goes well, there your best friends , but as soon as something goes wrong they couldn't care less, didn't help they refused to let me have recordings. I would of proved them wrong.
There is one good thing and thats Lee, the manager.
Apart from that they change their story and blame you. To add another thing, i finally had a meeting with them and they cancelled on the same day.
Really bad service and they dont tell you the full story. Put it this way, i went in first and was told there was only one problem, the throttle, to then when i come to collect my car, they only then realise the exhaust is leaking oil (bare in mind this is after having the car all day). So i had to buy more and more and more.
Absolutly terrible and its a real shame because i actually enjoyed coming to this garage for my car problems.
The regional manager is terrible and the way he spoke to me and about the situation was carelessly. Too many lies and so many failures for a garage company.”
“Tried to rip my elderly mother off. Told her it needed new brakes discs, windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen, so they failed the mot.. Went elsewhere no flew through the mot no advisory.. DON'T NOT GO THERE IF YOU HAVE NO MOTOR EXPERIENCE... THEY WILL TRY TO PULL YOUR PANTS DOWN....”
“Paid Mr Clutch for a Range Rover gearbox and confirmed that the Torque Converter came with it, they delivered the gearbox without the Torque Converter and will no longer take calls or answer messages about getting one to me or refund, no options left but to go the legal route. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!”
“Had my mot test today. Got more than 15 major and dangerous reasons for failure of mot. Most of them silly reasons. My car is absolutely fine. I drove this car more than year . Never had any problems. Just serviced two months ago. It seems crazy to me. I will never ever go again and request you not to go to them for mot. They will destroy your car mot history. Now I have no other option left as all garage closing soon because of Corona virus.”
“disconcerting that 2 items were mised completely by the mot tester.
one tyre was on the wrong way round it is a directional tyre which is a fail .told the back box on the exhaust needed doing but in fact the exhaust was blowing in two places had I fixed the only part required by Mr clutch it would have failed the re test. was booked in for 12 on re test but not done until 12.45 . I told the guy on the desk about the tyre being the wrong way round and he wasn't bothered even though I had sorted it.not impressed by the low standard of mot testing won't be going back. will probably get an apology but would rather you monitored your testers better.”
“Mr Clutch failed to declare severe corrosion on an advisory when they did an MOT on a vehicle we then bought. Had it been on advisory we would not have bought the car.”
“Took our Freelander 1 in to have the clutch done.
It took nearly two days. The car was returned to me three times and I could not get it into gear - it took them 3 hours to sort it out.
They claimed that it needed the DMF at the same time (doubling the cost), but could not tell me what was wrong with it, and would not return the old parts for me to have a look at.
When I drove away it overheated and I had to fill the cooling system with water as it had been left empty. The EML was repeatedly coming on and the turbo was not providing any boost. Further to that the steering wheel was turned to the right when going straight.
Months later I am still waiting for them to agree to repair the car and pay for my garage bill whilst on holiday.
I have not had an apology.
I will never use them again.”
“DO NOT USE MR CLUTCH KINGSTON.
DO NOT BELIEVE 5 STAR RATING.
They are incompetent.
Also no point in complaining as head office refuse to investigate unless bad review is removed first -- all they are interested in is manipulating rating and don't care about customers at all.”
“After being over charged & having wrong gearbox fitted & exhaust they fitted falling off due to bottom engine mounting not being refitted. It has taken 4 trips to Mr clutch.”
“Mr Clutch Bletchley failed to understand the DVSA requirements for left hand drive car headlights. This is crazy because the same car with same headlight configuration passed MOT four times at the same centre. I urge Mr Clutch to train all their MOT testers in what the regulations actually say, rather than rush to fail cars which comply.”
“This company is cheating people by telling wrong fault and making money and say we are doing the job for low price. NO MORE MR CLUTCH. Giving reply that any problem email us for investigation. They fail to do the investigation. They charge me £489 without solving the problem if i ask for refund they say sorry cant give refund and says we will give u discount next time .”
“I will like to bring this to your notice, that as a customer I am very discontented and aggrieved by the poor workmanship at Mr. Clutch Swindon branch.
I booked for MOT and major service on July 11, 2019 at the Swindon branch for my car in the morning. I told at the reception very particularly to look into the a considerable oil leak and they should have close look at it & repair it. I called them again around 12:30 PM to understand what they have found missing. I was told there is no sign of oil leakage and as MOT has failed I need to get my break pad changed, I consented and gave them a go ahead. I once again reiterated to have a clean look at the oil leak and other issues. I was told to come at 5:00 PM to collect the vehicle.
I received a call around 4:50 PM around the same day but as I was close to the branch, I said I am coming over. On reaching I was told the work has not been completed and I can get my car only by tomorrow and MOT done again. I had no choice, I requested that they should complete all by 2:00 PM as I had a major requirement of car the next day.
On 12th July, 2019 I got a call around 12:30, that vehicle is ready to be collected. That’s appreciated. I reached branch and enquired about oil leak or any other issue. I was reassured that there is not much to worry about the oil leakage it is minor and outflow is very less. There were few other suggestions not serious ones advised.
In few days I started finding various things not usual as they were before. Internal lights had issue, front passenger side window had an issues. I ignored as they were not major. Then 4 days later, on July 16th, 2019 I found car not able to take pickup and getting heavier. I was on motorway and with great difficulty I reached home from Langley. I tried several time the next day to reach Mr.Clutch Swindon office but in vain. I took it to nearby garage and found that turbo intercooler pipe has come out due to poor fitting and its inner seal was broken. I had to get it repaired by paying 30 pounds.
On August 10th, 2019 I with my family were going to Newbury to attend function. Between Junction 14 and 13 on the motorway, I found car trembling I was on a 60 miles / hour speed. I immediately pulled it over hard shoulder and inspected of suspected flat tyre. But it was all right, We continued. After going around 2 – 3miles more, again the car started shaking. I cut to the left and suddenly our front left tyre came out loose and it went away from they car. I struggled to get on the hardshoulder. Thankfully there was no vehicle behind us and we were on the left. It was traumatic experience. I called on my road side assistance, who came and inspected the situation. The mechanic asked me whether I have gone to service or garage in near past as the nuts were not screwed and a shoddy work was done.
Facing that hardship and help from them, I got a recovery truck and loaded the car and came to Mr.Clutch office. It was a very cold response from the receptionist there. He argued that as I have not booked an appointment he can’t see my vehicle till next weekend. I told him the situation and it was because of poor workmanship and shoddy work of Mr.Clutch Swindon that we almost lost our lives. He argued. I showed him the report of RAC. He got the vehicle parked down. I have asked him to get back to me by Tuesday, i.e August 13th, 2019 on the status.
I mailed to their MD, got a response that it will be inspected soon. They have been shirking off their responsibility for the same and giving poor logic, showing their poor customer centricity and workmanship. It is 17 days since, I have not got my car.
This is sheer negligence, poor workmanship and unprofessional behavior .
Please give me reason, why I should not take legal action and seek punitive action against the company. It was life threatening experience and anything could have happen. I will certainly not recommend Mr. Clutch to my community and friends.”
“Avoid at all costs!
Had I known that Mr Clutch were completely devoid of customer care, diligence and professionalism I would have avoided them at all costs.
Our Car was booked in for a clutch replacement at our local branch of Mr Clutch on Wednesday 17th July 2019. When the work was completed the car was taken for a test drive where they identified a knocking noise when the car was in motion. The car was then put back on to the ramp to be re-inspected.
After the second test drive we were advised that the noise may be as a result of an issue with the brakes. We were given no further advice and left the garage
In the days that followed we noticed an unusual sound coming from underside the car when driving. The car seemed to be rattling when in motion. This was particularly unnerving when driving my two young children to and from school.
Based on the advice we were given regarding a potential issue with the brakes, we booked an inspection at a local branch of a well-known National Garage for Saturday 20th July. We did not initially mention the work previously undertaken by Mr Clutch on the Wednesday.
When we arrived back to collect the car we were asked if we had recently had any work completed on the car to which we advised that there had been a clutch replacement a few days previously. My husband was then taken to the car and was shown that one of the bolts on the sub frame into the steering rack was not completely secure. This was clearly the source of the knocking noise that we had heard when driving.
The Mechanic marked the exact bolt with yellow chalk to make it abundantly clear where the issue was and then we drove the car back to Mr Clutch which was approximately five minutes away.
When we arrived at Mr Clutch the car was put back on to the ramp to be re inspected. It was at this point we were advised that the sub frame ‘does not need’ to be removed to replace a clutch. This was in complete contradiction to what we had been told when the work was originally completed on the Wednesday.
When the check was complete, we were advised that the bolt was in fact completely secure. A bolt that was identified by a second independent garage as being loose only 20 minutes previously.
This was all documented in writing by the Assistant Supervisor of the independent garage. They have subsequently advised that they are very happy to discuss this further given that it is also their professional integrity being called into question.
The brakes were then subsequently checked and we left with no further explanation.
It is my understanding that had the sub frame into the steering rack detached completely the consequences could have been catastrophic. This is a car that is used numerous times during the day and transports my children to and from school.
I have since contacted the Customer Service team regarding my complaint and what has followed has been nothing short of appalling. They have been deliberately evasive, vague and non-comital. There has been a flat denial to acknowledge that there has been any wrong doing, despite written evidence to the contrary, a refusal to answer any of the questions I have raised, and a refusal to escalate my complaint internally. Apparently, there is no escalation process above the Customer Service team and no complaints procedure for them to send to me.
After 14 pages of email correspondence, and two telephone conversations, I have now been advised to refer my complaint to the National Conciliation Service for their independent review as it is unlikely that an agreement will be reached between us.Given that we have written confirmation and proof from an independent garage, I find their arrogance and complacency quite simply astounding
It is also worth mentioning that we were quoted almost £200 more for the clutch replacement in person. It was only when we advised that we had requested an online estimation a few hours previously that they agreed to honour the original quotation.
I think the way that any Company handles such serious complaints speaks volumes about the kind of organisation they inherently are. I could not be more disappointed that we put our trust in a company that clearly has no regard whatsoever for their customers.”
