About Mortgage 1st & Peak Mortgages:

We are an award-winning team of experienced Mortgage & Protection Advisers offering professional advice to customers across the UK. With over 40 qualified advisers and a wealth and breadth of knowledge, we can assist with any enquiry. Our team prides itself on delivering five-star service, supported by 20+ dedicated staff members who guide you through the entire mortgage process efficiently.

Our head office in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, hosts a third of our team, with the rest working remotely across the UK. This ensures that no matter where you live or plan to buy, our team is available to help.

Founded in 2008 by Jon and Lisa Stones, our family-run business maintains core values of caring for employees, customers, charities, and the local community. Our positive workplace culture was highlighted when we were named a ‘Top Mortgage Employer’ in 2023 based on an anonymous staff survey. Winning prestigious awards like ‘Best Mortgage Broker (8-50 advisers) 2024’ at the Mortgage Strategy Awards and ‘Broker Firm of the Year (11-50 employees) 2023’ at the Financial Reporter Awards underscores the quality of our service.

Whether you're a first-time buyer, looking to release equity or consolidate debt, a landlord managing a portfolio, or in need of personal insurance policy reviews, our specialist advisers are here to help.

Buying your first home can be daunting, but our friendly, experienced advisers will guide you through the process and find the most suitable mortgage product. If you're looking to remortgage, purchase a buy-to-let property, or take out insurance, our expertise and guidance will save you time and provide peace of mind, ensuring you get the best deal after a thorough explanation of your options.

As advisers authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, we ensure all customers are treated fairly. We listen to your needs and present the most suitable options. Your dedicated adviser and case handler will process your application, supporting you until your mortgage or insurance policy is completed.

Beyond Mortgage & Protection Advice, our sister company Specialist 1st offers second charge mortgages, auction finance, commercial mortgages, bridging loans, development finance, and mortgages for non-UK residents. We also recommend conveyancing solicitors, building surveyors, will writers, and equity release advisers.

As the largest mortgage & protection advice firm in Derbyshire, we have access to exclusive deals available only through selected firms, allowing us to pass potential savings on to you. Thousands of five-star reviews mention our team members by name, reflecting the care and attention they provide.

A significant portion of our business comes from returning customers or referrals, demonstrating the quality of our service.
Our support doesn't end when your mortgage completes. We'll stay in touch and inform you well in advance when your deal or term is ending, offering remortgaging or refinancing options and supporting you through the process again. We understand that life circumstances change, and we can review your insurance policies to ensure they still meet your needs.

We are your lifelong adviser, providing professional mortgage and protection advice through all of life's key milestones—from buying your first home and moving up the property ladder to renovating your forever home and later releasing equity to help fund your children's education, weddings, or house deposits.

Please make sure you follow up and do your due diligence and advise the advisor what to do because mortgage1st can't do their job well enough causing monetary and other losses to the clients. Better find another advisor who work for the client and not just pass on the documents across and mint money.

It’s a shame I had to post this as I was really happy with our first experience with Oliver. So I have referred friends and family. Upon Successful completion of a referral I was then told referral fee is not payable as I had cancelled a life insurance policy arranged by them as this did not include my daughter. They penalise you for worrying about your own future. Very much so Oliver couldn’t care less because commission was taken back from him.

Hi Chelsea As per our conversation, We apologise that our adviser misunderstood the T&Cs of our referral scheme in this instance and I can confirm that the referral fee has now been paid to you in full We are glad that you felt the mortgage advice given to you was so good that you referred us to family and friends and now that this misunderstanding has been resolved we hope that you will continue to do so in the future All the best Mortgage 1st

I had few adverse credits and the advisor spent 2 hours over the phone going through my case and then he promised me to come back in 48 hours . After 3 days I rang him to ask for an update and then again on the 4th day I rang him again and then he indicated me a lender he may go to but then I had to tell him the lenders criteria and he said he will check and come back to me , again I had to chase the advisor and which point he said they did a soft credit check and it failed. Now after one week when I checked my credit report there was no credit check carried out and the advisor was lying!!!!!! Very very poor...never trust them again....

Hi Vijay Very interested to read your review which we would welcome discussing in more detail if you would like to get in touch with us directly? After speaking to the adviser and reviewing the file I can see that you emailed the adviser on the 16th of October letting him know that the property you wanted had been sold - This email seems quite contradictory in tone compared to your review as in it you wish him well and thank him for all his time and help looking at a mortgage for you I can also see from the advisers call logs that during the 5 days from your initial enquiry being received to you advising you had missed out on the property he had 7 separate telephone conversations with you – including as you stated one that lasted for nearly 2 hours and also answering and dealing with calls from you on a Sunday. I also have a copy of the decision in principle which was declined by the lender which I can happily forward on to you if you wish to get in touch – please note it can take a number of weeks for this to show on your credit file depending on which credit search provider you are using, but I believe you were advised of the decision result as soon as it was received by your adviser I completely understand your frustrations at not being able to get a mortgage due to your own adverse credit rating but also feel that the review you have left is borne out of those frustrations as opposed to being a true and factual reflection of the service you received from Mortgage 1st Many thanks
