Nothing like it used to be. The cakes are baked in paper not with a nice finished edge. They are pale with fork pins - not aesthetically pleasing. Don’t get them out the freezer with pride anymore. Have to do something with the top to cover it up. Disappointing developments. Chris Hesketh Harrogate.

I was unhappy with my cake as the icing was squashed and looked melted. a quarter of the top was a mess.

Over-hyped service and products with a relentless campaign of daily emails.

After having the chocolate fudge cake which was delicious I decided to order the small selection of cakes, the only one I liked and good quality was the chocolate one. So yes very disappointed with the quality and flavours of the others.

Unfortuntaley the cakes got lost in transit and when they did arrive I didn't find them to be very fresh. This was disappoining as they were a gift.

I brought this for a birthday, the cake was a bit dry and bland. Not worth £30. I have had a lovely Christmas cake from here but this was unfortunately disappointing

I AWAITED WITH MUCH ANTICIPATION FOR YOUR MINCE PIES TO ARRIVE! OH WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT WHEN THEY DID? 1. NOT MY IDEA OF A 'MINCE PIE' 2. VERY SMALL IN COMPARISON TO OTHERS. THUS NOT COST EFFECTIVE? 3. MY LOCAL BAKERY PRODUCES MUCH BETTER 'REAL' MINCE PIES, AT A LOWER COST? 4. I COULD POSSIBLY HAVE ACCEPTED THE ABOVE. IF THEY HAD LIVED UP TO THIER TV ADVERTISING. IE. THEY HAD TASTED EXCEPTIONAL. BUT WE FOUND THEM QUITE ORDINARY. 5. I DONT KNOW IF THEY WERE EX-CHRISTMAS STOCK. BUT THEY DID NOT TASTE AS 'FRESH; AS EXPECTED. SORRY. F.J.P.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review. We are a small bakery and do not place TV ads so when our products were reviewed on the programmed you saw them featured in those were genuine reactions. Kindest wishes, CustomerCare.

Since this was sent as a present, I am unable to comment - although the recipient seemed happy. Kindly stop sending these intrusive requests for 'feedback'.

Presented well but so sorry but we did not like your Christmas cake. So sweet and sticky, virtually no cake mixture and stuck to the roof of mouth and absolutely no hint of brandy to balance the sweetness.

Good Morning, and thank you for taking the time to review. Unlike supermarket fruit cakes we don't need to use much cake mixture as the fruits (soaked overnight in brandy) and nuts are what make it special we feel, we've been making it that way for 30 years. Perhaps you might enjoy our Almond Fruit Cake more which is more like a Dundee recipe? With kind wishes, CustomerCare

Cake was lovely as always but you omitted to add the birthday message, my Brother was not sure who had sent it, what a shame. Not good, expected much more at that price. Lynda Duffy

Don't send a last-minute gift after 12noon A birthday gift sat in a warehouse over the weekend as I failed to notice the order cut-off of 12 noon and was 2 minutes after that time. It was a Thursday and I paid extra for a 'next day' delivery assuming that would mean a Friday delivery. Missing the despatch time meant it was pushed into a Friday despatch which meant as I hadn't paid for the Saturday delivery (which I would have done had I thought it necessary) the parcel sat in a warehouse over the weekend and wasn't delivered until Monday. Customer service have pointed out that I am in the wrong and that this was clearly displayed on the website so this was my problem. I have also been assured by customer service that had I phoned this order could have been pushed forward to get it out earlier. But I didn't realise the package wasn't being packed and despatched on Thursday so it didn't occur to me to phone. So their website says "Need a last-minute gift?" well not after 12 noon. A lesson for others in the future.

Received cup cakes as a birthday gift. Cakes very heavy and dry, no indication on each cake as to flavour, I like a cup cake but not these not recommended.

I was given a leaving work present of 6 months of cakes from meg rivers. We are keen bakers so we were very excited but have been pretty disappointed. The cakes have all been very dry, maybe because of the way the delivery service works but without exception very dry cakes. Then there are the themes to consider. Gooseberry, , ginger, chocolate and walnut (which you would not expect to be dry, but it was) . We are a family with younger kids. We would have loved some traditional flavours. Chocolate, vanilla, carrot, not sure if the creative juices are just s bit much for us but the overwhelming theme is every cake is too dry. Shame as a lovely idea
