“Delivered on time, well packaged etc. bit disappointed with the items themselves, expected full flavour ‘home-made quality. Found them pretty much like you’d buy in a supermarket.”

“We have not tried the cake yet. As we have ordered the Xmas cake for the last few years l a sure it will be as good as normal. We look forward to eating it with some cheddar cheese.”

“I don't want to leave a public negative review as due to the nature of your products, it must be difficult to guarantee quality all the time. Just for information only, sadly, it was a very dry and crumbly bake that couldn't hold its shape when cut and was difficult to eat without leaving most on the plate and floor. The flavour however was excellent and I'm sure this was a one off. Please don't take this to heart. I enjoyed the flavour but If it was perhaps a little less dry and crumbly it would be outstanding. I hope this helps as I mean this to be constructive and in no way a complaint. Sincerely yours Catherine Simpson”

“My initial order did not arrive despite the selected courier stating it had been apparently delivered and signed for. The staff at Meg Rivers picked this up before I had chance to raise a complaint on the non-delivery and personally dropped in the replacements. First class resolvement of a potentially difficult situation. Thank You”

“Presented well but so sorry but we did not like your Christmas cake. So sweet and sticky, virtually no cake mixture and stuck to the roof of mouth and absolutely no hint of brandy to balance the sweetness.”

Good Morning, and thank you for taking the time to review. Unlike supermarket fruit cakes we don't need to use much cake mixture as the fruits (soaked overnight in brandy) and nuts are what make it special we feel, we've been making it that way for 30 years. Perhaps you might enjoy our Almond Fruit Cake more which is more like a Dundee recipe? With kind wishes, CustomerCare

“Cake and franzipans arrived in excellent condition and looked beautiful. Franzipans are excellent but saving Christmas cake until nearer Christmas but I’m sure it’ll be excellent as well. Will certainly buy from you in future”

“Every thing came in good time and looks wonderful have only tasted the frangipani mince pies so far they are lovely but a little disappointing in that couldn't really taste the almonds in the spongy bit .”

“Delicious cakes delivered to the door in time for Christmas. The Chocolate Orange Wreath has become a family tradition as an alternative for those who do not like the fruity Christmas Puddings and Cakes and either the 5th or 6th year but lost count. This year with side orders of a mini traditional Christmas cake and a fabulous Ginger cake we are definitely in cake heaven. These are really quality bakes that are well worth it. Thanks to the Meg Rivers team again this Christmas!”

“Very helpful staff. Two orders didn't arrive, to different parts of the UK, due to DPD destroying the parcels without permission. Meg Rivers refunded without delay. Will place a further order after Christmas. Customer service could not be faulted.”

“The short bread is so scrumptious and it is like home baked as all the cakes and biscuits are. Easy to order and good choice of delivery options. Kept informed at every stage and your arrives quickly even at a mega busy time like Christmas. Fantastic!”
