“The report said was that I should get specialist surveys done for a multitude of different aspects. This made me think why bother paying for the most expensive (of the 3 types of survey) survey when it just suggests other surveys. What I didn't know is damp companies and the like will do a building survey and a specialist damp survey at the same time. I wish I had done this option.”

“My wife and I found Local Building Surveyors to be a very helpful website as we were moving to a new part of the country (from Kent to Cumbria) and had no local contacts to rely upon. The surveyor we eventually chose was George Passey and he could not have been more helpful. As someone with many years of experience as a surveyor he was patient with our questions and his survey report was thorough and professional, highlighting issues of concern but, at the same time, putting those concerns in perspective without causing undue alarm or deterring us from proceeding.”

The survey was reasonably priced, the report was clear and detailed and arrived promptly and the surveyor was particularly helpful in offering to discuss the issues raised over the phone, which was extremely helpful and reassuring. I would not have found this excellent service without this website.”

“No problem navigating the website. HOWEVER, the ‘highly rated’ firm of Chartered Surveyors has been a total waste of my time and money and caused me unnecessary, additional stress. Their ‘Surveyor’ was unable to identify a chimney breast and the initial report said that the chimney breast in the dining room had been removed and I needed to employ a specialist to check that there were sufficient supports in place. Thankfully, I have a braincell and eyesight and could definitely see a chimney breast, so I didn’t waste more money employing a specialist. Having emailed and spoken to a member of their firm, another report arrived. This time, ALL chimney breasts had been removed and I should employ a specialist....etc.etc.etc. NO chimney breasts have been removed. The Estate Agent’s pics prove that. In addition, their ‘Surveyor’ said ‘there is shared access to the property’. Another work of fiction and further stress for me, trying to figure out where this access might be. The ‘Surveyor’ was never available to speak to. He was either ‘on leave’ and later later ‘on holiday’. A learning curve.”
