It's OK but expect to be bombarded by national firms with a 'local' sell.

One search produced a range of surveyors to choose from - the one I selected responded very promptly and conducted the survey within a few days. They then submitted their report equally promptly.

The process of booking the surveyor was very smooth and they were able to find a mutually convenient time with the Estate Agent. After they surveyor visited, the report took around one week to compile. The report was 77 pages long with lots of standard paragraphs. There were some issues with the property which I did not feel there was anything like enough detail on in the report. The report talked of loose rendering to the left wall of the property but there was no picture of this and no way of knowing what constituted the left wall or what area of the left wall was affected. There was also a photo of a damp meter on a wall but no indication of the significance of this. I did go back to try and seek clarification on these points and some minor amendments were made to the report but it was still lacking in detail about these particular issues. Subsequently, I had to instruct another surveyor to provide more details on these problems which should not have been necessary.

I used your website to form a short list of Surveyors. However once I whittled the list to one preferred Surveyor I didny not confirm that appointment, The terms of business proposed, payment up front, no flexibility on dates offered and an aggressive, unhelpful approach were not acceptable.

Not yet ready to instruct. But please tell me who the surveyor would be. We have asked the vendors to get rid of the spray foam insulation in the roof void first and will then expect the surveyor to approve so that the property is mortgageable. Thanks.

Very poor. The survey took less than 15 minutes and then when the valuation finally came through the comparables used were council flats with 70m2 of living space compared to our historic listed property of 230m2 with unique features. Appalling service and behaviour.

Got a good range of quotes, but it was very irritating that my details were passed on to the various suppliers I have been inundated with unwanted texts and emails.

I didn't end up using either of the surveyors found through Local Building Surveyors. Both firms I found were not specific people, but large firms. While the price was acceptable, I wanted to be able to identify the individual surveyor, and find reviews of their work. Also, I ideally would have liked the option to be able to request a survey with retrofit advice included. This does not yet seem to be a stardard RICS form of survey, but it should be!

Waste of time for me. Was looking for the cost of re-building for insurance purposes. I explicitly asked for that. All I got was cut-and-paste from companies offering valuation surveys. Even the one company who quoted back to me my text asked for a rebuilding survey still quoted a valuation survey!

Easy to use and quickly provided information on relevant surveyors. We chose Chris Humphreys who carried out the survey and provided us with a detailed report very quickly.

Excellent report, very detailed, both in findings and the general information they include that is useful for homeowners. Prompt booking, and then a great report 4 working days after the survey / inspection. One bad thing to note though, that they could improve on, is that once the inspection was booked, it was impossible to get in contact with anyone other than their reception team, who will ask you for your entire details rather than look you up in their system, and say someone will call you back. All I had wanted to do was put in a message to the surveyor to have a look at a couple things in particular. Thankfully the survey was thorough so most of those questions were answered anyway.
