The service is excellent but the plant I received was in absolutely terrible condition. It is dry and dying. I don't trust that I will get a decent plant from this company anymore.

Hi Holly, We are sorry you have become disappointed with your plant. We have contacted you directly with advice for the current environment you have you plant in and how to bring it back to health. Kind regards, Mark

The schefflera I ordered was large but not in very good health. It was overextended in height, the branches were disorganised and bare in most places and it was being held together by a wire which I removed (so it didn't bite into the bark) and the plant sprawled in an unattractive manner. Not great for almost £80. I ended up cutting it down to the rootbase to regrow the tree. Think you should switch supplier.

Hi Matthew Thank you for your review. I am really sorry you were unhappy with the plant. We do check our plants prior to dispatch and only work with quality growers, so this sounds very unusual. If you had contacted us upon receipt and sent in some photos we would have looked into this straight away and rectified any issue for you. Kind regards Sandra

The range is good, but compared to places like Patch, or even Ikea, the price of plants is quite high, and I don't think they provide any extra value for that. The plants I've had have all been barely the minimum height indicated and a few have died within six months. The care guides are really basic. The customer service is complete garbage.

Thank you Matthew for your comments. I have checked back and the only communication we can find with you was back in February when you raised an issue about an older order received the previous Autumn, where the plants had not done too well. The main plant was a Schefflera Gold Capella which had subsequently died. We provided as much information as we could as to why this might have happened, it is sad that you felt this response was complete garbage. We would have been more than happy to provide some care advice when the plant started to deteriorate had you got in touch at the time. We may then have been able to save the plant. I can also see that you discussed this plant on a forum earlier in the year and admitted it had been over-watered. On this basis, as this was completely outside of our control, I am unsure what else we could have done to help you. Please note: as stated on our size guide, plant heights are approximate and are provided for indicative purposes only. The key size in determining the maturity of a plant is usually the diameter of the grow pot. Plant heights include the height of the grow pot and the height/length of the foliage and it may be that you have not taken this into account when measuring the plants? We would always strive to ensure the plants are close to the height stated if not taller wherever possible. Kind regards Sandra Hortology

I was disappointed as I ordered two Charlie plant pots of different sizes in metallic Copper, when they arrived they were two distinctly different colours. One was copper coloured the other more old gold. As the pots are big and heavy, I couldn't face repackaging and returning them so I decided to keep them. Very disappointing.

Plant arrived in poor condition. Not sure yet whether it is going to recover. Very disappointed.

Hi Marie I am sorry to hear the plant was not in perfect condition when it arrived. I have checked back on your order and cannot find any communication from you advising there was an issue. Please would you contact our customer service team at info@hortology.co.uk and send some photos so we can resolve this for you. Kind regards Hortology

Ordered an atomiser and some plant food. The food is fine, but the atomiser gave a very poor spray and then the handle snapped when I tried to fill it up again. It's basically useless.

The pot that arrived was nothing like the photo but too expensive to send back. Shame!

Plant arrived with stems wrapped around the pot (as advised on website) took ages to unravel, and with this being a delicate string of hearts a lot of the stems broke off. I am left with little over half of what I started with. I’m sure it could have been packed with the stems hanging, the box was certainly big enough.

Hi Marie I am sorry you lost a lot of your plant. As the plants arrive from the growers pre-coiled for transit, and uncoiling them prior to shipping would increase the risk of damage to the delicate stems, we offer the following advice on the website for this product: String of hearts vines are coiled in the packaging by the growers to protect them in transit. On opening, we recommend gently unfurling the coils and teasing apart the vines around the pot. If you rush this stage, you risk losing a lot of your vines. Let the coils hang for several days before continuing to gently separate the vines (patience is a virtue). Some leaf loss is unavoidable, however they are fast growing plants and will regenerate quickly. Our care guide for the plant is available here: https://hortology.co.uk/products/ceropegia-woodii-string-of-hearts-rosary-vine With the right care and location your plant should soon generate new growth to replace the stems you lost during the unfurling process. If we can help any further please let us know by contacting us at info@hortology.co.uk. Kind regards Your Hortology Team

Received my order last week the pots I received seemed very robust solid though not to thick. However when I received the plants I was pleasantly surprised at first. Significantly quicker delivery than stated. Though when I examined the plants the root system was a stringy mess as I attempted to repot. One of the plants is about to die then another has definitely seen better days. Inthe first couple of day many parts have droped of the dying plants. The plants are of a quite inconstant size and as I would normally give any company a second chance. I am not sure in this case. Even though the general quality of the plants look excellent.

I bought two plants from Hortology. Firstly it was incredibly difficult to get the plants out of the packaging without damaging them. The box was about 4 foot long and the plants were sellotaped to a separate cardboard container at the bottom of the box, the cardboard was very thick to protect the plants and turning the box upside down to get the plants out would obviously have damaged them, so we were left to try and pull the plants out without damaging the leaves. The plants have absolutely no care instructions with them and one of them is in a very poor condition only a couple of weeks later, so I will be contacting Hortology to get a replacement or refund.

Hello Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We take care in packaging our plants carefully and securely in order to reduce the risk of damage during transit. If the plants were not well secured into their transit box and became loose, there would be soil everywhere upon receipt and the plant would be significantly damaged. We used a tall box as your order included a plant that was 1m high. The boxes can be opened from the bottom to remove the plants if required. We do not include unnecessary paperwork in with the plants but all of our place care guides are available on the website, on the individual product page. If there is an issue upon receipt please do let us know straight away so we can resolve this for you. If an item is damaged please also send us some pictures. KInd regards Hortology

Hi James This is very disappointing to hear as we pay a lot of attention to how we package our plants for transit. Unfortunately very occasionally things can go wrong and if you had made us aware of the issue at the time we would have looked into this so we could resolve it immediately for you. If you do have any photos of the plants as received please would you forward them to info@hortology.co.uk along with any observed damage to the outer packaging etc. KInd regards Hortology

I love the plants BUT the packaging has so much plastic! It’s such a waste and goes against the whole idea of buying plants. Until the plants aren’t covered in single-use plastic I won’t be buying from you again, and will go back to my local shop.

Hi Karen Thank you for your comments. We do try to use as little plastic as possible, however many plants arrive wrapped in plastic from the growers and we will re-use this rather than throwing it away and using something else. Kind regards Your Hortology Team

The first item i purchased was beautiful, perfect in every way and arrived quickly. The second item was very disappointing, it was two toned but the main colour had splashed onto the rim which was supposed to be clear but had green blobs all over it. Shame as it was supposed to be a gift. Would have been 5 stars but now poor so only 2 stars.

Hi Deborah We are sorry to hear you did not like the pot. The particular pot purchased is not meant to have a uniform rim, with the glaze often encroaching on the mat rim in an undulating fashion or small blobs of colour. This is meant to part of the charm of the pot. You can see this in some of the images provided on the Iris series such as the one attached here. We do carefully check all of our pots prior to dispatch and would not have sent something that was not as expected. Your Hortology Team

From order to shipping notice took 8 days - longer than I was expecting from a premium service. I ordered three plants; two of which were smallish but acceptable, the third (a maranta or herringbone plant) was very small and with poor leaf structure. I have found much cheaper and better plants in DIY shops and even supermarkets. Would not use Hortology again, even with the 10% discount they are offering for writing this review.

Hi Matthew Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I have checked back on your order, and one of the plants was showing as out of stock with a 1-2 week lead time, hence the 8 day period. Stock availability and lead times are shown on each product page immediately below each size option as it is selected. The Maranta ordered was listed as 12 x 20cm, ie a small plant. We do sell a lot of these plants and they are usually quite uniform, so I am unable to comment on why the leaf structure would be considered poor. We would ask that if there is a problem with a plant you let us know upon receipt, so that we can look into this and resolve any issue for you. We do take pride in providing quality plants so it disappointing to hear that we have not met your expectations. Kind regards Sandra

The plant was slightly damaged when I received it & there was no care instructions or anything - just a box with a plant in it - having to google how to look after it and when to re-pot.

Hi Louise We are sorry to hear your plant arrived slightly damaged. We do ask for any damages or concerns to be notified at the time of receipt so we can resolve this with you, however you did not let us know there was any issue with the plant. All of our care instructions and tips are provided on the individual product page: https://hortology.co.uk/products/beaucarnea-recurvata-branched-pony-tail-palm. We do not reprint this material for every order as this would be rather an unnecessary waste of paper. Please do contact us at info@hortology.co.uk and send us some images of the plant so we can resolve this issue for you. Kind regards Sandra - Your Hortology Team
