“Gives you lots of useful information but doesnt mention the fact that shared pwnership leases run down jut like other leasholds so your house is losing value like any other leashold property and could become worthless”

“positively, I learned there is a new law due about freehold which will make freeholds less valuable. this might, just might help me as someone new bought my freehold in 2023 whithout my knowledge and wanted more than 3k shortly after to buy it. Now, 2yrs later its 1k cheaper. On the downside, it largely seemed to relate to flats. I am now worried. If I buy the freehold now I am sure I will lose money as the property isn't in great repair, but if I wait it could be sold from under me again as he is effectively giving me the first refusal I SHOULD have had from the original owners having bought my house in 1986. Downside of website I have looked at (and to be fair briefly), is it seems to focus on flats. Still the best site i found so far.”

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. From what you have said, I'm assuming that you own a leasehold house and your current freeholder has decided to sell it to another freehold. We do have a guide for Leasehold Houses specifically. https://hoa.org.uk/advice/guides-for-homeowners/for-owners/leasehold-house/ You are rightly concerned that you do not know what your new freeholder will be like. If the price is right and you can afford it, it is probably in your best interest to buy the freehold of your house, especially as leasehold houses may become more tricky to sell as they become less common.
