Whilst pleased with the product I was disappointed that you you refused to deliver to the Isle of Wight claiming that the complications of Brexit and paper work require was delaying all deliveries other than the UK. This is difficult to understand as the IOW is in Hampshire and as well as Royal Mail the carrier DPD whom you used delivers daily to IOW at no extra cost. Indeed the van delivering to my drop address in Portsmouth proceeded by ferry to the IOW. Good product but I shall have to find another supplier who does deliver. Martin Bedford

not your problem but the delivery was meant to be last Friday , then Monday and supposed to be today , I have been in each time and nobody rang my bell or left the package in the lobby as instructed. Its a pity as you were so prompt with your service.

good service,but 3 from 12 were bent,1 akin to a banana,also 2 different sizes,i wanted them for making arrows.not easy when bent.....

I liked the look of the company and the products and the interaction was good on the delivery which was quick and arrived when expected. Only small problem is that I order 4 hardwood dowel of one size and 2 more of a slightly larger size - but received 5 of the smaller and only 1 of the larger. I am hoping to be able to manage the repair job with what I got.

Dowel arrived promptly. Was wrapped in cardboard tube that had a hole in it, on removing dowel there was a large chip out of the surface of the dowel clearly having been thumped in transport. Shame but did the job I required it for.

Quick delivery and easy to order. Web site excellent. Slightly disappointed with the timber as it is warped. However I can work with it to square it up. Would prefer buying from your premises so I can inspect the wood first.

Speedy order processing and delivery in lockdown conditions was appreciated, but alas they sent the wrong item. The cabinet scrapers I ordered were available in two thicknesses, I received the 0.4mm instead of the 0.6mm I requested. To be fair, I've not given G&S a chance to rectify the mistake, but I need to get to work with them now, not wait around for an exchange via courier.

I consider the timber reasonably priced and on arrival it looked very good, as of yet I have only started turning a piece of Sycamore which I have discovered has a couple of internal cracks this has made that piece useless. I would stress that from the outside it was impossible to detect the fault.

A good product - framing chisel - delivered very quickly. Unfortunately the courier must have dropped the package resulting in a damaged edge, but easily rectified. Informed the team who apologised and promised to review their packaging processes to prevent recurrence. Many thanks, will be ordering from you again.

I’ve ordered from here in the past and had no issues. I recently ordered some walnut dowels but when I received them the ends had black marker lines all over them. My intended use for the dowels is to display work so I couldn’t have them with marker all over the ends. Customer service experience wasn’t very helpful and told me to sand them/cut them or return them but I wouldn’t be getting anymore as that’s how they are. Disappointed really as a returning customer and they aren’t cheap either.

I bought an olivewood carving blank, it was very tough and didn't carve very well. Was not good for the purpose it was bought/ sold for.

Generally the oak I recieved was very good but unfortunately let down by several issues. Firstly the order was late but at no point did anyone contact me it would be late. No response to my email chasing the order. When I rang to chase the order I was dealt with politely but on both occasions given delivery dates that were wrong. When the order finally arrived, I found a large unsightly knott on the face of one of the skirting boards, machining damage to the bullnose on the end of the window boards, and handling damage to the bullnose of a window board. At this price I would expect all the oak to be usable. Without the damage I would consider the oak as very good quality. Hence only 3 stars

Good afternoon, Thank you for your review, we are sorry that there was a delay with your order. Unfortunately, we had a delay in receiving some wood from the mill in France. We are also sorry that some of the boards had knots and some slight machining issues. If you would like us to replace the boards please send us some images showing the faults and we will do so.

very good quick service. However l would make two points which l am unhappy about. 1/ The delivery cost was high and if sent by Royal Mail would have saved around £6 plus parcel if correctly package could have gone through the letter box. 2/ I wished to order more items, which where out of stock. So would now have to pay double postage, if order them in the future. This would increase my postage to over £16 extra! In the past l have been able to order (from other firms) out of stock items, to be delivered in the future and only paid for one delivery.

Thank you for your review. Regarding Shipping costs-orders over £45 clarifies for free delivery which you just missed out on unfortunately. You also opted for Pre Noon Delivery which was £9.95 as apposed to normal delivery charge of £5.95 for a next day delivery service.

My timber order was for making a peg loom for a local farm, this was a trial order from the farmer and a trial order from yourselves. The quality of the board was very good and finished nicely, the quality of the dowel was also good but the size differences was almost unacceptable. I drilled the holes for the project all the same but sadly only half fitted as it should the other half had to be sanded down to fit which the time spent doing this almost made the job unprofitable. The farmer wants me to make more looms and if I ordered from you again the dowel would have to be from the same batch so they are all pretty much the same. I appreciate the timber may vary but should all be near enough the same if machined at the same time. regards Trevor Turnnidge
