“Really easy firm to deal with. The web site is both informative and simple to navigate. The price is very competitive and the quality of the timber is well worth the price. I only had to contact the guys once and they replied quickly . Really pleased and will definitely use these guys again”

“I make walking sticks and I carve them by hand. I buy various dowels from G and S Timber so that I can easily carve the shanks. I don't own and can't afford my own lathe. So naturally when I see that little bit of text on the website saying( Custom & Bespoke Black Walnut Dowels We also offer bespoke dowel production for custom sizes and specifications. Contact us to discuss your unique requirements—we're happy to help.) if you want to buy any of these tapered just let us know...so I ask and get told no. Not just no but giant rude attitude problem no. Like literally if G and S Timber had not written it on the website I never would have asked in the first place. Clearly not happy to help. If you can't supply it don't offer it. i still hope tapered dowels are something G and S Timber can supply me in future. Also something went wrong with my online account but no one fixed it now it doesn't work at all. Consequently I'm going to minus a star per issue hence the two star rating.”

Dear Arthur, Thank you for your review, however we feel the review is totally uncalled for and totally unfair. You emailed us in 2023 asking if we could taper 21mm oak dowels from 21mm down to 19mm over A 1000mm length. We can offer tapering on the CNC machine but not this small. Sometimes enquiries like this one are something we can’t offer, we offer over 30,000 products online, but all machines have restrictions, and in your case tapering these isn’t something we can offer. Our member of staffs response wasn’t rude in any way he politely emailed back saying we couldn’t offer what you wanted and apologised that we couldn't. You then leave a negative feedback on an order placed 24th of May 2025 but your review isn’t about the oak dowels you purchased its for an email enquiry back in 2023. We are a small family business who always go above and beyond to help service customers’ needs unfortunately sometimes customers’ expectations are unachievable, and we unfortunately cannot offer an item that they want, but we always respond politely. “G&S were okay and must have sent things off quickly - no confirmation of despatch so not sure - but FedEx delivered to incorrect street about 1/2 mile away. Wouldn't have known if recipient hadn't been kind enough to deliver to me. Hasn't happened before so not really any excuse for FedEx mistake”

“Its very Rare that i give a 5 to anyone but i have to say i dont think id put my mouse down and my order arrived, very swift, neatly and safely packed. Ash dowels are extreamly well made with no digs apparant or blunt blades bring used all are cleanand well packed.”
