Established in 1980 by Glenn Morris, and as one of the pioneering companies helping to establish the Arboricultural Association approved contractor scheme, we’ve grown into the largest tree contracting company in Kent securing an impressive array of clients in both the domestic and commercial sectors.

The successful merger with Greencut Horticulture in 2016 resulted in the creation of a large company that not only has the infrastructure to deal with any size job, but the modern back office systems that allow us to focus on a customer-centric model.

“Nice friendly people, worked well. But there are still a number of roots that have not be ground out and which are very difficicult yo remove without the gear. I don't really blame the crew for this as they would have been difficult to spot amongst the detritus of the job. My recommendation would be to offer both a removal and a removal and claring service - so far I have made 4 estate car loads of roots and gereral grime to the dump and it is the removal of this that has revealed the stumps. Realistically I couldn't have expected the team to have done this in the time they had but the stumps shouldn't still be there. There was also a previously chopped down shrub right next to the hedge which was left in siru which seemed a littly petty when there was 100 yeards of hedge ot be got rid of. This aside very pleased.”

“We have used this company several times for pruning large trees to shrubs. This time our Pittisporum had grown enormous and although we wanted in cut back hard we were very nervous about it. However, the men did a very good job and although it looked a bit sparse, after only a few days we can already see how it is really going to be a great shape. The workers were on time, polite, very knowledgable and left everything tidy. A job well done”

“We were delighted that Down to Earth was able to re-arrange the visit from 22nd June to 28th June. The tree surgery was outstanding, meeting our full requirements leaving the trees with an excellent shape and appearance. We very much appreciated that all the debris was cleared away effectively. Both men were charming and worked very hard. Overall, excellent service and value for money. Elizabeth and Michael Hewitt”

“I was impressed from the very start with their professionalism, both at the time of the site survey and quotation with the very helpful comments about the inherent root issues with large trees growing too near to the house, and even more with the friendly crew on the day. They were speedy, professional, and employed safe working practices throughout, completing the job of felling two large trees well within the stipulated time, even allowing for intermittent heavy rain, and leaving the garden clear of all brushwood and sawdust, cleaner than before they started! I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.”

“Purchased my second batch (10 cubic metres) of wood chippings from Down to Earth to finish mulching over a large area. Excellent quality product matched by a very good price. The guy who delivered it was the same person as before and was extremely helpful and friendly. Will use again - a highly recommended company. Top marks for your new website!”

“Down to Earth recently felled 12 close planted mature trees in a difficul situation(on a small area surrounded by water). They cut down the trees very professionally and quickly. They brought all the specialist equipment with them. They also took care to save a mature tree in the same area very close to the trees felled. They also took care to relocate a colony of bees at great cost to themselves in that they were stung for their trouble. They left the site in very good order and also took care to minimise the damage to the access track. At a later date they provided two loads of wood chips and placed them exactly where requested.”

“I have used down to earth a few times to shape a huge horse chestnut tree. The first time they came was during the petrol strike in circa 2000. It was touch and go if they would have enough diesel but they did and did a great job. This time it was to fell the tree. They fought through monumental traffic to get to me as Summer Hill was shut due to a sink hole. Again they made it with a smile and did a fab job at a reasonable price. I would always choose down to earth and recommend them to my friends. Thank you”
