“Took out the youdrive policy for my daughter. After 2 weeks she only drove 4 times (2 journeys) and 7 miles in total as fuel prices have gone up and where possible she tries to walk to reduce her carbon footprint. Hastings contacted her today to say that they may cancel her policy as her braking was not showing as acceptable. I explained that she had to brake hard once during the 7 miles total distance to avoid a car that pulled out in front of her and clearly this effected her algorithm score. Hastings told me she should be driving the car more often to balance out the averages!! How ridiculous is this statement as surely the less she drives the less chance of an incident and better for the insurance company! Absolute waste of time and money DO NOT TAKE OUT A YOU DRIVE POLICY!!!!!”

“Hastings car insurance is one of the best insurance provider in the UK. I have notice that 16 of the big insurance companies has decided not to insure people over 80 years old, this is age discrimation and the goverment should stand up and take some action against these companies.
My home insurance ends in July 2026 so I will be moving it over to Hastings also for the Insurance company that I am with and get all my friends and families to move away from the big 16 Insurers.”
