I'm very sorry to see that the renewal wasn't competitive on this occasion. At the point of each renewal the policy details are reviewed and as a result the perceived risk posed by the policy details can change even if the details don't. It may be the case that on this occasion the underwriters of your policy interpreted a higher risk and the increase in price reflected that.

“I added a car to my policy over Xmas temporarily as I couldn’t get through over the phone. When it come to remove a car from my policy BUT NOT cancel it, I was being charged a £45 cancellation fee that asked to be waived as I wasn’t actually cancelling. The lady argued with me that I was cancelling not just removing a car?!? Needless to say it was £21 to cancel the whole policy and it was cheaper to purchase elsewhere. So for the sake of a cancellation fee for a policy I wasn’t trying to cancel. They lost a customer that has been with them a few years!”
