“I insured my Tesla Model X with Hastings Direct for £800 in the first year and agreed to have their black box installed to monitor my driving.
At the end of the year my driving score was 93%, placing me among the safest drivers on their system. Naturally, I expected this to be reflected in a competitive renewal price.
Instead, my renewal quote came in £300 higher than the previous year.
So after a year of monitored driving and proving that I’m a very safe driver, the reward was a significantly more expensive premium.
I find that extremely disappointing and it suggests that Hastings Direct puts very little value on customer loyalty or safe driving. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them.”

Thank you for your review, I'm very sorry to see that the renewal wasn't competitive on this occasion. At the point of each renewal the policy details are reviewed and as a result the perceived risk posed by the policy details can change even if the details don't. It may be the case that on this occasion the underwriters of your policy interpreted a higher risk and the increase in price reflected that.
Please note, that while important your policy details are not the only factors considered. Industry trends, rise in claim costs, how many accidents the make and model of your car are involved in throughout the year etc can all have an impact. Customers can help the price by having a clean driving history, however, an industry that runs on a worse case scenario determines that external factors beyond your control may impact the price.

“Very competitive premium for car insurance obtained through a price comparison site and easy to identify which "options" were included or excluded in the price. Whilst not the absolute cheapest available, I considered Hastings to be one of the more "reputable" companies providing quotations and so (hopefully!) more likely to provide a better service should the worst happen and I need to make a claim.”

“Had a multi car policy and bought a new car. The difference between adding the new car to the policy and taking out a new policy, with Hastings was well over £300. The agent on the phone could not match, or even get close to the single policy price. Even though I stayed with Hastings there was a charge to change the multi car policy. Absolute joke of an insurance company”

As a result, it is possible that prices can vary internally and at times you can go online and find a more competitive price.
