“My poliocy was cancelled after a few days because I had not set up their App.......This was done over the Christmas period. They sent a letter dated 22 December 2025 to my home address advising that my policy would be cancelled on 29 December if I did not set up the App - THAT LETTER WAS DELIVERED ON TUESDAY 30 DECEMBER. When I looked at my emails I found one sent on 29 December and timed at 21.26 hrs.
I consequently called by telephone, explaining the delay and pointing out that this was the Christmas period and that at 81 neither my wife (the policy holder) or myself were confident to set up Apps - preferring to let our son do so (on his return from holidaying with his wife's family in Manchester (we live in Brighton). The young lady I spoke with was sympathetic, given the circumstances, but her supervisor was not - insisting that the policy had to be cancelled. I am currently awaiting a call from Hastings to see whether it will be reinstated: if it is not, I will be expected to pay ÂŁ70 for 2 week's cover!!
Good news - the policy will be reinstated!! Well done the persistent and helpful young assistance: not so well done her unsympathetic supervisor.
All in all, a VERY stressful couple of hours that we did not need!!
HASTINGS - you need to do better!! Especially at this time of year!!”

Sorry to hear you had issues with the app and your policy. I’m glad it’s all sorted now. The delays were due to the holiday postal system, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience. Great to hear the agent was helpful, but we’re sorry the supervisor didn’t seem sympathetic. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

“The online application was slick and efficient. The app works well and the monitor arrived the following day, which being during the holidays was good in itself. The data recorded is good and I have a great price on my new car's insurance for a year. No hassle except the repeat emails reminding that I must connect, which was done on the first day. I am well pleased and hope to remain so having been a previous Hastings customer.”
