“HEADACHE to sign up. GoSkippy send multiple emails and requirements asking for photocopies of license, NI numbers and access to online counterparts.. all with a gentle threat of cancelling your policy (could do this before they sign you up). They'll make amendments and charge you a fee-without consulting you.. and overall generate a bad relationship within 2weeks of joining. Was with Admiral before and that was much simpler.”

“Insured my car through Go Skippy..unfortunately it has been stolen and burnt out in the early hours of Thursday morning..I have supplied crime ref numbers etc etc. I have managed to get another car and need to transfer the policy over, NOW being charged £75.04 to do this! WHY? I have never made any changes to my policy..I will not receive the full amount that my 1st car was valued at as excess will be deducted and now still be victimised for something that is not my fault! I could understand an admin charge if I had changed cars through my own choice BUT this isnt the case. Someone illegally took my car and damaged it beyond repair causing my a lot of distress and now Go Skippy are 'milking' the situation by extracting more money. The total lack of understanding, the amount of time spent on the phone to Go Skippy trying to sort the situation out, the tone of voice from the person in customer support is diabolical. BIG MISTAKE for ever insuring with Go Skippy in the 1st place!”

“Pretty much identical to all other reviews. The worst customer service i haver ever had the misfortune to deal with!!! Take a wide berth and gives these guys a miss. An absolute joke of a company. I spent hours on hold trying to make a change to my policy. I eventually cancelled my policy and got a cheaper one from a more reputable company.

“Go Skippy is VERY SLOW at returning money owed to you! They are quick to take your money though. Don't insure with them is my advice. You cannot change your policy; you must cancel, which costs you dear - £50 in my case. Don't insure with them!!!!!”

“Wouldn't even rate them, bought a policy from compare the market paid the deposit, emailed my drivers licence the next day to be told there's a discrepancy and I'd have to pay an additional £275 plus £50 administration fee!! Rang customer services who had me down as 12year licence rather than 9 hence the discrepancy but I never put that when I applied!! Customer services were terrible I then cancelled which I had to do via email. Luckily it was only 2 days so was only charged £20 wish I'd read the reviews before as would never insured with them in the first place!!”

“If there was a minus stars I would be pressing it!! 1st of all my call was cancelled 11 times and then when I finally spoke to someone I was shouted at and sworn at!!! I had been with Go Skippy for about 6 years till the start of this year I rang today to start a new policy and I got all this!! I can not belive how I spoken to. Finally after going through it all they then refused to insure me with no reason given so I asked for a copy of my no claims to which they refused. Yet again I was sworn at! Safe to say I've gone else where!!!my new policy is only £500 so God knows why they won't insure me! Please take my advice and avoid like the plague!!”

“Worst company I have had dealings with...lodged a complaint with insurance ombudsman..cancelled my policy after they said they hadn't received copies of my license and proof of no claims discount..funny thing is I was an existing customer of 2 years....customer service is a joke...please be warned...I only wish I had read reviews on this company before I had taken insurance with them”

“Would give 0 stars, but not an options. Would advise others not to use this company. Changed cars seven months into policy, cost me £50 to change policies and £25 in admin charges. Two after the policy started I found a small modification on the engine, informed them the next day. Was on the phone for half an hour for them to tell me they had to refer it to the underwriter. During this time couldn't get a straight answer about whether my policy was still valid, had to ring them back were they eventually informed me not to use my car, since my insurance was not technically valid at this point. Was told I had to wait 24-48 hours to find out if they could add the small modification to the policy, they called me the next day to tell me they don't insure modified cars, what a waste of time, how do you not know this as a company already. They didn't cancel the policy, I had to do this myself. In which I was still charged the £50 cancellation fee and possibly another admin fee and whatever else they decide to add on as a "standard fee." Worse customer severance experience ever. Do not use.”

“I changed my car a few weeks into my policy. It was going to cost an extra £181 with a £50 admin fee. After 1/2 on the phone being given misinformation and being told lies I wanted to cancel my policy. The gentleman on the end of the phone questioned how much my new car had cost - had I really spent that much!!! The following day I phoned cancellations - you can't cancel over the phone you have to email. But that's ok I was told I will get a reply in 3-4 hrs. Excellent as I needed to insure the new car the next day. After I emailed several times that day and the next - nothing. I telephoned again and spoke to another adviser. I shouldn't have been told how much of a refund I would get as its none of my business! I shouldn't have been told I would get a reply within hours as that's not possible. I recommended the 2 previous advisers be retrained. Apparently they have just misinterpreted their training. No they lied and told me the wrong thing. It took 8 days to cancel my insurance. The refund is 1/2 of what I paid. I have asked for a breakdown but after 9 days I've still not had a response. I am now going to the ombudsman. This insurance company has appalling customer service and will charge you for every little thing. Go elsewhere”

“Worst insurance company I've ever used. Sent them proof of my driving licence and my NCD then they said they needed more proof of address so I sent them a credit card statement and then they came out with some rubbish saying it had to be stamped by the bank, I was on the phone for over an hour trying to sort it out then after all that I find out I'm not insured to drive other vehicles even though I bought comprehensive insurance. Please pay the extra and go with a real insurance company”

Just a note to say - BE CAREFUL when buying Comprehensive. They do not allow you to drive other cars, covering you third party.
I stupidly thought this was a given being Comprehensive and landed myself in a bit of bother with the police (driving with no insurance).”

“To Goskippy;-You have until 5pm tomorrow Friday 30 September 2016 to furnish me with the reference number of my latest Formal Complaints against you together with confirmation of the amount of my refund, the waiving of your cancellation fee and the date that I can expect to receive my refund.
I made formal complaints regarding your appalling service which began the day that I gave you my business on 12th February 2016. I am in possession of your letter dated 19th April 2016 in which your third paragraph it clearly states is your ‘Final Response.’
Due to selling my car and requiring specialist insurance for the replacement, which is a Campervan, I phoned GoSkippy on 12th August 2016 to cancel my Insurance. From your recent communications and telephone conversations with me, it is abundantly clear that I was lied to during my call to cancel my Insurance. - I was clearly told that my policy had ben cancelled. - However, I was told that I could not be told the amount of refund at that time as it had to be calculated by your ‘Cancellations Department’ which would take a few days. - I did find that unusual as I have been driving for over 30 years and have always been given a refund amount immediately when having to cancel Insurance in the past. You have recently confirmed that despite being clearly told to the contrary. my Insurance was not cancelled on 12th August 2016 and in fact was only cancelled this week due to me following this up!
The reason that you state that my Policy was not cancelled on 12th August is that my original complaint was outstanding. - Firstly, I repeat that I have your letter of final response to my complaint dated 19th April, some four months before I requested to cancel my Insurance on 12th August. Secondly what right do you think you have to penalise a Customer that has already complained of abysmal service by continuing their policy against their wishes, thus reducing any refund due, even if a complaint was in fact outstanding. Thirdly, what right have you to lie about it!
It is blatantly clear that GoSkippy had no intention of communicating with me any further after my request to cancel my Insurance on 12th August 2016, had I not followed this up commencing 24 September 2016.
On 24 September 2016, I called to follow this matter up. My call was taken by Bronwen Simmons who assured me that she was dealing with the matter, yet put me on hold for over 20 minutes without once getting back to me to assure me that my call had not simply been terminated. - I was left with no choice but to assume that she abandoned my call and had to phone in again.
Despite promises, even after my original complaints and the disgraceful circumstances surrounding the failure to cancel my Insurance on 12th August, Managers and other staff have failed to call me until I have emailed yet again.
I am told that this matter has to be referred to The Underwriters which accounts for the latest delay in resolving this issue. - What the hell has this got to do with The Underwriters? It is GoSkippy Staff that failed to cancel my Insurance as required, then lied about it on top of what has been the worst possible Customer Service experience that I have ever encountered.
If I do not hear from you by 5pm tomorrow Friday 30 September 2016 with confirmation of the reference number of my latest Formal Complaints against you, together with confirmation of the amount of my refund, the waiving of your cancellation fee and the date that I can expect to receive my refund, I will immediately refer this matter to The Financial Ombudsman without any further communication with you, on the basis that you have refused to record and investigate my complaint despite several emails confirming my complaint and requests for the complaint reference number.”
