do NOT buy for Hire & Reward!
I was about to make a payment for a “Carriage of Goods for Hire & Reward” insurance for my van. In GoSkippy’s system, I specifically selected that the van would be used for courier work and transporting goods for payment. The first advisor in the chat told me that the coverage was included and everything was fine – until the chat suddenly disconnected.
I waited for a second advisor, and they clearly told me that GoSkippy do not actually offer Hire & Reward insurance. This is completely different from what the first advisor said.
Importantly: their system allowed me to select Carry Goods For Hire & Reward and more specific the section below:
What is the van used for?
-Carriage Of Own Goods
-Social, Domestic & Pleasure including Commuting
-Hire And Reward
-Other:
Carry Goods For Hire & Reward
and even gave me a price, without warning me that it wasn’t actually included. This feels very misleading and gives the impression that the company is trying to trick customers.
💡 My advice: be extremely careful. Do not buy Hire & Reward insurance from GoSkippy – they are misleading, and this could put you at serious risk if you’re working as a courier. Technically, you could buy their standard business insurance and then top it up elsewhere for Goods for Hire & Reward, but in reality this becomes very expensive, so don’t be misled.”

“Ordered a brand new Cupra Terramar, which on the day of delivery the dealership- Hortons, Lincoln, couldn’t get started and after 7 weeks had still not got it working. I had insured it on that day of delivery fully comp. with Go Skippy….£523.00 and after 7 weeks cancelled the insurance because Cupra & the dealership couldn’t tell me when I would get the car or if it would be replaced.GoSkippy would not transfer the policy to another vehicle and the cost of termination…..wait for it…£297.00. and the car had never left the compound.
So the moral of the story is, get a car that works, from a dealership & manufacturer that knows what they’re doing and NEVER insure with GoSkippy!”
