I had a poor experience, which I imagine may be unfair in general. My original ordered test was mis-categorised, so I received the wrong testing kit. I spotted the error (which was not obvious) and customer service was good and I received the correct testing kit quite shortly. I then submitted the correct test and it took quite a long time (about a week after successful delivery) to receive the results: Feedwater (rightly) makes a fairly big deal about the swift timeline between sample and delivery for accurate testing to occur: e.g. oxidation can occur if a sample is left too long. In my case, I don't really believe the results of the test, which show relatively low iron (whereas the physical evidence on-site is that we have very high iron deposits). So I am not sure whether the specimen spent a long time "waiting" after it was delivered or whether it just takes a week between performing the test and the results being delivered, for reasons that seem unfathomable. Or maybe it's telling me something genuinely suprising. In short, any chemical testing relies on swift and appropriate handling of the sample, and I simply don't have faith that the test was timely or accurate for several reasons.

Hello Jonathan, apologies again for the initial sample kit mix-up. I have spoken to the lab and the results were provided well within the 10-day lead time we state on the product page. Testing is carried out at a UKAS accredited lab. The stability time for metals is 6 months, it wouldn't be expected that the iron levels would alter in such a small space of time. There were other metals that were out of spec and flagged this on the report. If you have further questions please feel free to contact the lab to discuss. Kind Regards Ben Parkinson

I've been using the Feedchlor and Dechlor products for several years now, and they usually work exactly as expected. I always buy a batch including one 10 kg drum of each product. But this year's batch (bought around March 2024) gave us some problems. The Feedchlor was OK - we achieved the expected chlorine concentration using the expected amount of Feedchlor. But we had to use much more Dechlor than expected to neutralise the chlorine. We had to use 2-3 times as much Dechlor as Feedchlor. We used all the testing techniques at our disposal to check our findings (Palintest "disc" comparator 0-50 mg/litre with chlorine HR and acidifying tablets, also the chlorine test strips, and finally DPD1 tablets to confirm removal of chlorine) so we're quite confident that our measurements were consistent. Fortunately, we discovered the problem while treating the smaller of our two tanks. We then realised that we would not have enough Dechlor if we completely filled our larger tank, so we took the precaution of only part-filling that larger tank before we added the Feedchlor, and that turned out to be a good move. At the end of our process, the Feedchlor drum is still about 80% full and the Dechlor drum is only about 30% full. Serial numbers from the drums: Feedchlor 2312012, Dechlor 2308033. I'd be grateful for any comments.

Hello Richard, apologies that you have had this issue. Needing to use so much Dechlor S14 is unusual it should be suitable for neutralising chlorine at a dosage rate of 14ml per ppm of Chlorine per m3 of water. If you can raise the issue with the Feedwater team on sales@feedwater.co.uk one of the technical team should be able to come back to you regarding this. Please include your order details to help them identify it. Kind Regards Ben

Good Morning Arthur, My apologies if you didn't receive the results, they were emailed out on the 22nd of April but I will reforward them to you now. Please let me know if they don't arrive, my email is ben.parkinson@feedwater.co.uk The results come with a decision matrix to help you understand the results based the relevant national standards for potable and private water supplies but if you have further questions please don't hesitate to ask. The access and availability of a sample system is a very useful resource. We have used the resource on numerous times but we have had issues with the packaging for return which is of very poor quality and no tracking available on the postage, when we lost samples due to poor packaging in the postal system. Time to return results is very slow and can be 3 - 4 weeks or more.

Hi Craig, thanks for the honest review. I have asked the lab assistant to review the packaging situation to make sure what our customers receive to return samples in is appropriate. Results for chemistry analysis aim for 12 working days, this depends on whether the analysis is completed entirely within our lab or if any parameters need to be tested at one of our partner labs.

We sent a sample back first class and when it arrived, we were told it was too late to sample. However, it was posted on the day of sampling. We were offered no refund or new sample to send back in. Started well, very disappointed with the customer service response.

We have called you four times to get our online login sorted out and we have no idea on the status of our last sample we sent in . We like your system but the customer service is poor.

Thank you for your review John, to log in click on the My Account button on the top bar of the website, if you need to reset your password you can do it from here. Your results will not be available from the web site account but will be emailed to you upon completion, Legionella samples take 10 days to culture but no (early) news is good news as positive results are reported early. Once the lab has received a sample you should receive an automatic email to say the sample has been booked in, if this did not happen please let me know as this was a feature requested by many customers. Please contact me on ben.parkinson@feedwater.co.uk Regards Ben

There was no interpretation of the results for a layman, one would need to be a chemist to understand the significance of them. I had to call the lab for an explanation. I chose feedwater because the website suggests tests are done in-house, but then I discover some aren't and have been significantly delayed. I'm unimpressed by this service.

Hi Robin Apologies you have experienced a delay, I believe there is a broken piece of equipment required for some chemical parameters which puts this out of our control. We have two onsite labs but certain parameters are tested by our partner lab so we can offer more complete and valuable packages, I believe Mykal provided advanced warning there would be a delay. As for interpretation, this was for the micro-analysis, not chemistry, you can see a rundown on interpreting results on the product page where you bought the product but we are in the process of modifying the system whereby it sends out an FAQ pdf along with the results. UKAS rules limit what we can put on the result certificates themselves so no interpretation would have been allowed, we know some customers like to speak to us about their results so this is being worked on as a value added service plus it will also save the lab time so win-win. After sending my samples to you I was told that the lab analysis was not available due to building work so didn't receive a full report, only that there was E.coli present. It was not the service I paid for in my opinion !

Hi Fraser The lab refurbishment work has been completed now so we have twice the capacity and a new more efficient workflow, unfortunately, there was no access that weekend to perform the TVC analysis. The lab should have sent a bottle to resample for the TVCs, since you didn't get what you paid for I will partially refund for the microbial potability. Ben - Marketing Manager

Apologies you felt the service was slow, Legionella results take at minimum 10 days for the culture to grow fully. Results are emailed on the day results come in. Regards Ben

I didn't say I did have a bad experience. Something is seriously wrong with this survey. I clicked on 'good' was then asked what I liked about the service, answered that positively, then waited for what I didn't like, but that never came up and all I was asked to do was submit. I didn't, I exited the survey, and then I got this!

The initial service was good. Getting everything sent out and the collected again was very easy and straightforward. However once the tests where completed I did not receive the results via e-mailas I was told but had to call up and ask for the test outcome and then still did not receive the results when requested a second time. I'm still waiting for them.

Darrell we failed you here, human error meant your email was put into our system incorrectly so you didn't receive your analysis results. To ensure this doesn't happen again an email bounce tracker has been installed, there was a lapse in this after the lab's IT system was upgraded earlier this year. We are offering you free re-analysis so you can get up to date results that you can act on.
