The machine that does the dots wasn’t very clean and the lady finding the correct glasses didn’t seem very interested once I said I didn’t want to spend very much

Service a little slow as couldn’t create my new lenses in-houses down the Christmas period. When collected my glasses I was concerned about new lenses and glasses set up. Told to go off for a few days and trial them. Returned a week later and got a much better service from Kim.

I ordered lenses which were supposed to be delivered after week. The lenses were actually delivered more than 3 weeks after the order was placed. In the meanwhile I did not receive communication from the shop but only got updates when I reached out to them. Additionally, when I placed the order, I was told that it would take 1 hr to get my glasses fitted but when I then found out that it would actually take 2.5 hrs. As I do not live close to the shop I had to leave them and collect them after a few days which caused me inconvenience. Apart from these issues which could be easily address with a bit more attention to detail, I would generally happy with the service and the quality of the people in the shop.

Very basic test. I have been a customer of this business since the days of Mr Goldenburgh and feel a step backwards has been taken

The sight test was quite precise but the price I had to pay to change the lenses was really too high. Also I had to wait more than 2 weeks to have my glasses done, and no one knew why it was taking so long to have them done. Counting that the glasses were ready during my holiday, I had to wait 1 month to have my glasses done! Also, I specifically asked for the hake of the glasses to be cleaned at the lab and this wasn't done. I could go back to this Eye Academy to do the sight test but definetely not to change my glasses (in case my prescriprion changes again).

I am keen to support a local (not major chain) optician. While I am reasonably satisfied, I really don't like the hard sell all the time. It's very off-putting. Stop trying to up-sell or add extras. And if an extra is mentioned make it very clear what it costs. I feel left in the dark about what I'm paying for and if I ask it seems like a personal affront that I'm checking. I don't like being mugged off.

I found the next 6 hours after having to have the eye drops very uncomfortable, I had to lay in a darkened room and it wrote off my Saturday night. Unless there is a clear defined reason to have these again, I will not be doing this. Under the previous ownership for 16 years I never had to have these and had a very thorough, comprehensive eye exam.

When ordering my second pair of lenses it felt rushed and was finished with a phone consultation. Hence full discussion on varifocals and periferal view never happened and I'm left with glasses not fully doing what I wanted. I can't afford to get them altered so using to best ability I can.

I feel the costs have gone up and up whilst I’m not sure the standards have to be honest. I used to like going there because I felt they went out of their way to offer good service, it now feels a little bit like a ‘sales’ place

Very expensive, price increases have outpaced inflation over the past few years.

Lenses in a new pair and refurbished pair of spectacles not clean on collection. Otherwise prompt service and delivery. Not an entirely positive process when eye test and prescription does not turn into a spectacle purchase. At high end prices compared to chain competition, I’d hope for better.

Eye-test OK - follow-up following payment not good.

I first went to the eye academy because their frames are much nicer, with more prestigious brands and attractive modern styles than the average high street shop. All staff was very amiable and willing to serve well but not all were very well trained. I also feel things take too long when it comes to preparing glasses. For example replacing lenses on a exisiting frame should not take two weeks (when you have to wear contacts instead or don't have a spare pair) - I had to ask for a quicker turnaround, which they did in two days in the end. I was also surprised that for returning customers they wanted me to sign disclaimers in case they break the glasses frames that came from their own shop originally... you usually get this request if the frames were sold esewhere. In the end they forgot to execute on that. Additionally I don't think the price was very competitive when replacing lenses only; charging for additional re-glazing didn't seem appropriate to me (especially when the glasses were originally done 18 months before in the same shop and undamaged). Last but not least I had to phone back as they had kept my prescription and I needed it for future reference, and I also asked them to send me a receipt for what I spent as I only got a credit card receipt which doesn't work for private health insurance (they could easily ask the customer whether they need a copy of the invoice there and then). So maybe a check list on paperwork transactions would be good for staff training.

I went for an eye test knowing that I needed new lenses for my existing frames. Eye test was as I expected and good. However my "bill" was a figure written on a piece of paper without any explanation. So all I have is a credit card receipt which is not what I have received elsewhere for a similar service.

Having recently had a full eye examination and a prescription for new lens supplied to me I am a little unhappy that I received no follow up after a retina scan. The scan occurred after the full examination and I was told that the scans would be reviewed and the results relayed to me. I have chased twice but I have yet to hear about the scan results. I did receive a copy of the actual scans but they are meaningless to to me.
