15/02/2020: Staff very polite and courteous but paid £1000+ and glasses are still not right after two eye tests and two sets of lenses. Persuaded me to switch from Varilux to Nikon lenses and I'm now wondering whether this is the cause? Dr J A Murphy

It seems that Ellis and Thompson is not the same as it use to be. Did they sell this arm to someone else? The eye check (this is the second time this has happened) was thorough but I felt like she was just trying to get me to buy frames and I did not feel confident she had my best interests at heart. She wanted me to buy lenses.

The optician I saw for my annual eye test was helpful. She gave me two samples of toric lenses neither of which unfortunately worked for me. I phoned to make an appointment to follow this up and find some lenses I could see better with but was told abruptly by the receptionist that all future appointments would each incur a charge of £40 even though I had had all necessary eye tests and only needed alternative lenses to the ones I had tried. Sadly I will now be looking for a new optician having having been a client for over 30 years.

I thought to get a premium service but actually nothing different from high street competitors. Also they tried to aell me replacement lenses double the prices as I would have not bought new frame. Will definitely never go back there simply the way I was treated.

This was my first visit to the team. Everything from the detailed scan of my eye to the sight and eye health tests was done in a helpful, friendly and professional manner. I have poor vision and being able to trust the expertise of my optician is very important to me. I was impressed and intend to remain with this optician. I would also recommend the glasses fitter who was courteous and helpful and made suggestions based on my needs rather than simply trying to sell me an expensive pair of glasses for the sake of it.

I was asking the receptionist for my replacement lenses when she was interrupted by one of the optometrists to serve customers whom he had just brought to the reception area. She immediately helped them without giving me another look until they had left the shop. The other customers were apparently a Lord and Lady.

The last 2 times I have ordered my contact lenses I have had a problem. First time they went to the shop instead of my home and the second time I only got half my order, I never receive voucher copies of my payments.

The previous owners were world class.The first experience of the new owners was less than satisfactory. My £700 sunglasses came back out of focus.they were sent back to Rodenstock for new lenses to be fitted,whose fault I do not know but someone should have noticed they were "wrong" before offering them up to me! Four weeks later a lens fell out!!!again who is at fault?? I have had Rodenstock lens for 25 or more years a never a problem. I will give them a second chance as their customer service/interface is good.

I was advised to get varifocals. To be honest they were rubbish - most vision out of focus. The shop would not give me my money back so I ended up spending even more money on a second pair of glasses I didn’t need. I had to ask for discount and only received 15 pounds on a spend of over 700. So not very pleased at all. The eye examination was very good however

The eye test was great and very thorough. I was told that I would only be without my glasses for one day to change the lenses. After chasing daily I was without my glasses, unable to work, for over four days. I was given different explanations by different people for the delay. When I finally got my glasses I was told that I would get a definative explanation, but know one bothered to follow up.

It was suggested I needed s special eye scan which I could get in the shop, as I have private health care I spoke to my dr said said why ! There was no suggestion anything was wrong. I called the shop and was assured someone would call me back as I was worried something was wrong .... I’m still waiting 2.5 months later. I paid 250.00 for my glasses and it’s the first time I used your shop but will not be going back as I’m disappointed
