“I'm not going to lie - I hate making phone calls. HATE them with a passion. Either people don't understand my accent or they just don't get my kind of humour (Last time I spoke to a person from a call centre I asked if it was possible to dispatch a therapy cat to make up for an awkward 20 second silence while they were busy typing and the phone line was miraculously disconnected, not kidding). Another example: for the past 7 months my bank account has been locked because I could not remember my password and the only way to reset it is by making a phone call to speak to an actual person. I suppose I'll never see that money again.... you get the idea. For those reasons, any opportunity to do things online without having to actually interact with a human being I'm delighted about. I love software that allows me to book or order things online (even my family knows it's easier to reach me by text message or email). A few months back, friends of mine had an accident and were unable to work for several weeks and struggled without insurance. That's when it occurred to me this could easily happen to me as well as a Sole Trader without any sick pay. I researched Google for income insurance, came across Drewberry and liked the look of their website and how easy it makes things to enter details online. (Another pet hate of mine is receiving spam calls from anonymous numbers as a result of this, from people in call centres trying to tell me things I don't want, need nor understand.) With Drewberry I was able to enter my details and receive a quote via email from a person with an actual photo and name and a contact phone number which did not show up as anonymous, but was a direct line to one of their workers. To me the biggest selling point was already to have a face to the person I was supposed to talk to and the fact that they made contact via email and text message, which encouraged me to actually give them a call back. Egle was very patient and explained every single detail to me that I did not understand and even despite having a pre existing condition she went back to several insurance companies to make sure that I got the best possible option. Thank you so much - hopefully I'll never need it, but at least it helps me to sleep easy in the meantime!”
