Very poor. Avoid these charlatans imo like the plague. Stole £50O and let me down very badly at a critical time in my childcare case.

Appalling AVOID AVOID AVOID. They chased me down to make payment but as soon as I paid them the barrister that they appointed MIa was appalling. I asked for a refund and they took nearly £500 of MY money claiming they had worked on my account without any evidence. I am now trying to retrieve my loses through the small claims court. Please avoid this lot and save yourselves the heartache and sleepless nights that I have endured. Gary a Heart broken Dad .

Twice we have trusted a barrister recommend to us by a member of staff at clerksrooms direct. And twice we have been let down by an unprepared, unprofessional barrister. First time round the barrister failed to notice that the court trail was a ‘directions’ hearing something we feel a professional should of noticed. Meaning the case which was prepared in full and we had paid for would never have been presented as it was issued for direction only. He also failed to do a full breakdown of costs meaning when the case was struck out we weren't awarded costs which would normally happen in this situation. He didn’t issue the correct defense/counter claim. We accepted a court undertaking presented by the barrister as a substitute to an injunction, that again wasn’t properly carried out. All these to a non lawyer professional were not evident. When we needed a barrister again, following on from the previous case, the original barrister wasn’t available, so we were recommended another one by a member of staff at clerksroom direct Today we’ve been to court for a harassment case, again the barrister was unprepared for the case. He failed to notice the court hearing was a hybrid case costing us more to get him to attend in person. After telling us we had a good case leading up the trial, he failed to notice key points were missing costing us a total of £7140 for him to travel from London to Manchester to tell us that our case was bound to fail. Funny how it all changes once they’ve got your money in their pocket. Although we are being referred to the barristers directly, in each instance we’ve been recommended them by clerksroom direct, and paid clerksroom for the services provided. They claim to find you the right barrister and experts. Their duty of care should be in the interests of the client. We would like to make people aware and to hopefully stop them being put in the same position as us, by using barristers not fit for purpose. They claim Quality Assurance Guaranteed so have got to accept some responsibility for the actions of barristers they recommend to people, we were guided by their recommendations and assurances. We feel we are thousands of pounds out of pocket and our case messed up because we were unable to rely on the recommendations or barrister provided.

contacted this organisation a few months ago, paid a deposit for the services of a Barrister. I was advised that the date was booked in her diary. Closer to the date I asked to speak to the barrister to ensure she had all the relevant information. I was advised by Sam that, the Barrister will not look at it until I have made the full payment. My view is that, how could you make a full payment without even having a conversation with the person who will be representing you? This is not good practice. Surely, one must be sure that the barrister understands the undertaking before contracting. At a later date, I once again asked to speak the barrister, stating I was unwilling to pay the full fees before speaking to the barrister. On this occasion, I was given an appointment. I then was told to call the main number. I asked for the main number and was told its in the email signature. I advised that from my view, there was not any number in the email signature. I was told, it's in the email signature. I them wrote stating thus far I have had poor customer service as I was not happy with the communication with Sam. With just 4 weeks to go to my hearing, Sam then emailed me and said they will not be taking on my case because I said the customer service thus far was poor. How unprofessional is that. No consideration for the fact that the complaint is about him and not the barrister, who I did not get a chance to speak to and the client now has to find another barrister within 4 weeks. This is not professional at all in my opinion. Clients should be treated with respect and courtesy. Thier website states that the service contract is with the Barrister not clerksroom. I assume that the barrister is the person who should be cancelling the contract not Sam as my concern is my communication with him. I asked him if this was his decision to make or the barrister - all I was told is that the barrister is in agreement with him.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. They charged me a stupid amount of money to introduce me to a barrister that was worse than useless ! I ended up doing most of the work myself and even had to stop the proceedings in court due to the barristers errors. This was at a time when I needed someone to fight my case more than I have ever needed anyone in my life. When I complained they did not want to know. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Can anyone explain why my claim is rejected rudely before the person even knows any details of my case, hanging up the phone twice when i ask for a reason.

I chose this company as they had a number of reviews saying they provided short notice help e.g. over a weekend, but they let me down. My case wasn't being heard for another 9 days. I raised a case on their website, was contacted quickly saying they had somone free and provided a profile. I provided more detail, then received a poorly worded email from an iphone saying they didn't have anyone, and good luck with the hearing. Thanks!

I would not recommend Clerksroom Direct in a million years and would give no stars if I was able to. I sent a statement of case to them requesting a quote. They came back with a fixed fee which we agreed and paid the monies for the agreed fixed fee to them. Upon receipt of the funds, the Clerk called me and informed me that he had appointed a barrister for the case but his fees would be four times that of the fixed fee previously agreed. We were not in a position to pay the increased fixed fee quote. The clerk then suggested a further barrister, X. The clerk said that X wanted to speak to me to discuss the matter with me. When I spoke to X he said he understood that I wanted to speak to him as the Clerk had told him I wanted to discuss the matter with him! It became obvious after a few minutes of speaking with X that he had absolutely no knowledge of the case and hadn't read the statement of case. He was asking me a load of questions which he would have known the answers to if he had read the statement. He just appeared to be rambling and not listening to what I was saying to him. He said he would read the statement and either he or the clerk would get back to me. Neither did regarding my conversation with X even though I requested on at least 2 occasions whether the clerk had heard back from X. The clerk just chose to ignore this request and instead suggested yet another barrister who would be available just to turn up at court on the day of the hearing. This was not what we wanted and not what had initially been agreed would be undertaken by the barrister. Our monies were refunded. We then became aware that X had just returned to the Bar after a 3 year disqualification and what's more was about to face another disciplinary hearing and was subsequently disqualified for a further 3 months which would have meant he would not have been available for our hearing. Clerksroom Direct must have been aware of the pending disciplinary hearing of X or should have been because it is in the public domain. I got the impression that the clerk was in fact out of the country and in a different time zone and was not really interested in dealing with my matter. Ps by the way 5 star rating below is by someone from Clerksroom Direct. How desperate is that!

Poor Experience; abrupt, rude even. Not the experience i expected. There is the right way to give service and the wrong way regardless of the situation. Sadly i experienced the latter with this company.

We are extremely sorry to hear that you feel that way. It doesn't sound like us at all! We pride ourselves on our commitment to providing a service that is friendly, polite, efficient, knowledgeable and cost-effective. The other reviews that have been left for our business on Reviews.co.uk demonstrate that we achieve that the vast majority of the time. It's a shame that you have left an anonymous review - at least if we knew your name we could try to make up for your disappointment.

If you can get in contact with this organisation you'll be doing very well, much less actually instruct anyone! Managed it once and "Rory" spoke the speak but did not actually find me a barrister, despite saying he could! His attitude speaks volumes for the legal profession.
