“It was my first experience with Camps International and it was an incredible trip! The camp leader was very knowledgeable and all the staff at the camp were extremely friendly and welcoming. It was very insightful and enjoyable and I am looking into my next trip with Camps International.”

“Hello, after my Son brought home a letter from school regarding an Expedition to Ecuador in 2021, we thought "great" we have two years to raise the funds, and then after sitting and listening for almost an hour and a half to Mike selling us this wonderful experience we were sold, only to be told after the meeting that the first deposit had to be in with in 7 days, that threw us a bit as I am a single parent and money is tight enough as it is. But we decided that if we both worked hard at fundraising we may be able to make the deposit with in a month, we were given an extra week on the deadline, which wasn't going to work for us, and while I do understand the need for this company to secure places by taking in deposits early, for most households this is not viable, especially in less affluent areas. After speaking to other parents in the same boat it soon became apparent that expeditions such as these are for kids whose parents have money, or at least enough spare cash to get them going, also even after signing up we were not eligible to download any of the fundraising materials to enhance our chances of fundraising, people do not want to give their cash away to kids who say there are fundraising for an expedition with only a booklet for evidence. Maybe it would be of benefit if the representative of Camps International informed parents at the start of the meetings the need to pay the deposit with in the first week, this would save wasting the time of the parents who then come to realise that it is out of their league; leaving behind the parents who know they can afford to put up cash straight away. Overall it does sound like a great opportunity and wonderful experience, albeit for kids in private schools or schools in more affluent areas of the city.”

Hi Vicky, We're really sorry to hear that you felt the expedition would be unattainable for your son due to funds. We would like to stress that our trips are absolutely not for affluent families only. They are for all students who want to make a difference, travel, enhance their CVs and develop themselves. Fundraising is a big part of this development which is why we encourage all our students to do so. We do understand every family has different circumstances which is why Michael mentioned to discuss with him on an individual basis if you need longer to fundraise your deposit. We have so many success stories of students who have fundraised the deposit in less than a week and as long as you keep us updated with your progress we will try to be as flexible as possible. Each year we see thousands of fundraising success stories from students all over the UK, and we provide a huge amount of support - face to face, over the phone and online through our Traveller Gateway portal. All of this support is available to students from the moment they sign up to the expedition, with hundreds of ideas and resources to make fundraising achievable for everyone. Whilst we understand our expeditions aren't for everyone, we do everything possible to make sure that costs alone are not a prohibitive factor for any student. “My son who has everything done for him since day dot came into himself on the Cambodia trip. He worked hard and came home with a tan (unheard of Rory and sun combination) and some muscle. He really really enjoyed his mission whilst there. But downside he said he’s never eating eggs, rice or chicken again haha”

“I recently took part in their healthcare outreach programme and was really looked after from the moment I made my first enquiry to the moment I left Kenya. Everyone was so approachable and the programme was very rewarding to both patients and myself. I have come away with very fond memories and friends for life. “Camps International has always been both enthusiastic and organised in their approach to taking our pupils on a journey of a life time. Their Portal is easy to use and the regular contact and webinars are appreciated to help keep pupils and teachers alike focused on the long term goal. They are there at the end of the line to help, especially if there is an issue. Pupils who have decided not to go have always been dealt with efficiently and effectively in terms of return or refunds where required. The pupils have and will this year enjoy an amazing trip that will be both educational, benefit the community they are working in and be a life changing experience, something the pupils have already said before even going!!!”

“I first went to Camp Kenya in 2012, then Camp Tanzania in 2014. The impact on students was nothing other than awesome. truly inspirational which led students to take a gap year to Camp Borneo. The best thing I have ever done in 32 years of teaching! Julia Flavin”

“the people who work in the Tanzania Moshi camp, were very supportive and kind. The only thing that could've been improved was the food- it should cater to vegetarians and everyone's individual needs.”
