Beware of 4Com / HiHi: Misleading Sales, Hidden Contracts, and Poor Customer Transparency As a small business owner, choosing reliable communication solutions is critical. Unfortunately, my experience with 4Com and HiHi has been deeply disappointing and frustrating, and I feel compelled to share the facts to warn others considering their services. Initial Contact and Impressions I first approached HiHi after seeing their phone and tablet systems. The design was impressive, and I was interested in a solution that would fit both personal and business use. A sales representative contacted me and discussed options such as the number of units needed and how updates to the system would be handled. I was assured that, because I would be renting the equipment, upgrades would be free and easy—simply return the old phone, and a new model would be sent at no extra cost. This, however, was the first misleading statement. Contract and Terms: The Hidden Truth Before signing anything, I never received a hard copy or an email containing the contract. From what I understand now, I was sent a link to an online rental agreement, which the sales rep described as a simple rental contract. The agreement supposedly stated that the phone remained the property of HiHi and needed to be returned if I cancelled. However, I later realized this was not the full story. The contract I was led to sign was for a fixed term—three years in my case—and not a simple rolling monthly plan. The sales rep had explicitly confirmed I could cancel anytime by returning the phone, but this was not true. The cancellation process is far more complicated, and you are locked in unless you buy your way out with inflated fees. Adding to the confusion, I was unaware that 4Com was involved until I received an invoice portal link. HiHi and 4Com are affiliated, but this connection was never clearly explained upfront. Lack of Transparency in Account Management Their online system offers very limited information. It doesn’t show an account number, contract length, or any terms that would indicate you are under a long-term contract. This lack of transparency leads customers to believe they are on a simple monthly plan. I only discovered the full extent of the contract when I attempted to cancel. My initial email request for cancellation went unanswered, forcing me to call customer service, where I was informed of the binding contract and cancellation restrictions. It was only after this phone call that I received written confirmation, effectively trapping me in the contract. Attempts to Silence Negative Feedback Another troubling aspect is their approach to online reputation management. 4Com and HiHi block comments on their social media posts and have disabled reviews on their Facebook page. This appears to be a deliberate tactic to suppress negative feedback and prevent potential customers from learning about others’ poor experiences. A Call for Accountability I have sent multiple emails to 4Com requesting written acknowledgment that my contract will terminate at the end of its term, but they have yet to respond. Many others in my situation face the same lack of accountability. Despite having the right to end contracts as per their terms, 4Com chooses not to exercise this option proactively, leaving customers stuck due to misleading sales practices. When they do respond, it is often with generic legal disclaimers that avoid addressing the core issues. Standing Together as Small Businesses I am just one small business affected by these practices, but I know I am not alone. Together, small businesses can stand strong and expose companies that take advantage of customers through misleading contracts and poor transparency. If you have been impacted by 4Com or HiHi, I urge you to share your experience, leave reviews on all available platforms, and warn others. Only by raising our collective voice can we protect future customers and hold these companies accountable. Final Thoughts Choosing a communication provider is an important decision. Based on my experience, I recommend exercising extreme caution before entering any agreement with 4Com or HiHi. Be sure to request full, written contract details and do not rely solely on verbal assurances. Transparency and honesty are critical—if these are lacking, it is better to look elsewhere.

Our experience with 4Com has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. A pushy salesperson turned up at our business, presented a phone system at £136/month, and assured us that anything agreed on the day would be subject to approval after testing the equipment—especially to confirm it would integrate with our CRM system. I (the Managing Director) had to leave the meeting, and the salesperson was left speaking with a project manager—who clearly does not have authority to sign contracts. Despite this, the rep proceeded to get him to sign multiple legally binding agreements without proper review or consent. No paperwork was left with us, and when I returned the following week and began requesting the documents, it took several days and multiple calls to finally discover the contracts buried in our spam folder. By this point, the equipment had already been delivered and connected—completely undermining the “trial” we were promised. This feels like a classic case of high-pressure, misleading sales tactics targeting small businesses. We’re now locked into a contract that was never properly authorised and signed under false pretences. Communication has been slow, dismissive, and focused more on enforcing the contract than addressing genuine concerns. I strongly advise any other business owners to be extremely cautious when dealing with 4Com. Make sure every promise is in writing and do not allow junior staff to engage with their sales reps unsupervised
