My son has recently returned from Borneo with Camps International (after finishing year 10) and has raved about what an amazing experience he had. He has spoken very fondly about the team leader (John) and all of the staff at each Camp he visited. He specifically mentioned how much he enjoyed the jungle trek. From the first meeting we attended, Camps International have been very informative and super helpful. My son found raising the money easier than we expected and we received many emails of information and support from the supports team. Camps were great at sending update emails when things needed doing and were very quick to reply to the handful of queries I had along the way and the portal they use had all the information on you would need, including kit lists, visa requirements and vaccination information. My son unfortunately was unable to take part in the scuba diving, but instead was able to complete a first aid course, snorkeling and other interesting activities. I'm so pleased he came home wanting to take part in this experience and although it's been a big focus for over a year, he has said how much he has loved the whole experience, stating if it wasn't for him missing family, he could have stayed in Borneo. We would definately recommend Camps International from our experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We’re delighted to hear your son had such an incredible experience in Borneo and that he spoke so highly of his Expedition Leader and the camps staff – they’ll be so pleased to know how much he appreciated their support. It’s wonderful that he enjoyed the chance to experience the jungle, and that even when scuba diving wasn’t possible, he was able to take part in other rewarding activities like the first aid course and snorkelling. We’re also really pleased that you found the fundraising support, information updates and the Traveller Gateway so helpful throughout the journey. We know how much planning goes into a trip like this, and it’s fantastic to hear that everything from kit lists to queries felt clear and well supported. It’s always so rewarding for us to know students return home not only full of stories, but also with the confidence and enthusiasm that comes from such a unique experience. Thank you for recommending us! All the best The Camps Crew

My son recently returned from a 4-week trip to Kenya with Camps International. Overall, he had a fantastic opportunity to get involved in meaningful conservation and volunteer work, which he really enjoyed and gained a lot from. The projects themselves were worthwhile and gave the young people a real sense of achievement. However, there were a few areas of concern. He felt that the team leader, Max, at times made inappropriate comments in front of the children – for example, when an autistic child was struggling, he remarked that “it’s a shame you can’t smack kids these days.” Understandably, this wasn’t received well. My son also felt that the atmosphere created by some of the adults was overly strict and regimented. Outside of the structured project work, he and others sometimes struggled to relax, as the adults tended not to engage with the group unless required, and children were criticised for not joining additional hikes. From a parent’s perspective, I also feel that communication could have been better. Updates on social media were few and far between compared to other teams, which left us relying more on our school’s Facebook page for information. A little more regular reassurance from Camps International directly would have been very much appreciated. That said, my son still came away with wonderful memories, friendships, and a real sense of accomplishment from contributing to the projects. We are grateful for the experience overall, but I do hope that Camps International takes feedback like this on board to improve the support and communication for future trips.

Dear Parent Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and share your valued feedback. We are so pleased to hear that your son had a fantastic time, enjoyed getting involved in meaningful project work and has returned home with a real sense of accomplishment. Having carefully checked through all of our reports from the expedition, we cannot find any record that these concerns were raised with our team during the trip. As such, our staff were unfortunately unaware and unable to address and support as we would normally do. We will, however, ensure that your feedback is passed on to our Expeditions team so that the comments you mentioned, which are not acceptable, can be reviewed further. We would also encourage you to share your reflections directly with your school regarding the team atmosphere created by the travelling teachers. We very much appreciate you highlighting both the positives and the areas for improvement, and we will take this feedback on board. All the best The Camps Crew

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely feedback. We’re delighted to hear your son had such a fantastic time in Ecuador, enjoying both the activities and the chance to give back to the local community. It’s wonderful that he returned full of stories and even more determined to travel again if he has the chance. As a parent, we know how reassuring it is to see that kind of positive impact, especially when there were nerves before setting off. All the best The Camps Crew

I would highly recommend this company. From start to finish, its has been informative, well organised and professional. The price is a shock at first but when you see what they achieve and take part in, it is well worth it. They have finance plans too, which is a big help.I would send my boy again in a heart beat. Jess, who looked after them over in cambodia was amazing, had great ideas, was fun and kept them motivated. A real gem 💎 My feedback for camps international is all positive. I would however just mention that the pre-talks should inform parents of the cost of the vaccinations.

Dear Vicky Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review. We’re delighted to hear that you found the whole experience informative, well-organised and worthwhile, and that your son had such a memorable time in Cambodia. It’s fantastic to know that Expedition Leader, Jess, brought energy and encouragement to the group – we’ll be sure to pass on your kind words to her, she truly is a gem! We also really appreciate your constructive feedback about vaccination costs. As these can vary depending on location and surgery, we’re unable to provide exact prices, but we completely understand how helpful more upfront guidance would be. We’re always looking for ways to improve and make our communications as clear as they can be, so we’ll take this on board to ensure parents are as informed as possible in future. Impressed with the professionalism at all levels with people organising before and those accompanying our young people. The technology was easy to navigate and use. I felt safe handing my child over, so to speak. Everything worked like clockwork and you can see from Instagram that this is a well-organised, slick and well oiled operation. I would highly recommend.

My daughter has just returned from Costa Rica and had a truly amazing time — so much so that she’s already talking about going back. The experience has been life-changing for her; she’s created memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. I’m hugely grateful to the staff and local community at the camps, who clearly worked tirelessly to give the young people the best possible experience. That said, my experience as a parent was more mixed, particularly regarding the pre-trip information and support. From the start, I felt the cost breakdown could have been far clearer. The “basic price” was given, but the additional expenses — including kit — were not made obvious. Once we had signed up, the flow of information from Camps became limited, and I often found the support team unhelpful. For example: A simple question about whether money was needed for anything on the plane was met with “I don’t know” and a suggestion to call the airline myself — something I would have expected Camps to know. I was incorrectly told my daughter hadn’t completed her PADI certification, which led to two days of chasing, sending screenshots, and eventually being told it was a mistake on their part. We attended a presentation that still showed the 2024 trip details because the slides hadn’t been updated. There was no opportunity for a video call with our team leader before departure. Only a week before leaving, we were told it was rainy season and advised to bring extra kit — items not on the original (and seemingly generic) packing list. These issues left me feeling uneasy at times about the clarity and accuracy of the information provided. In summary: I cannot fault the on-the-ground experience or the dedication of the camp staff, which was exceptional. But I believe there’s real room for improvement in the way Camps communicates and supports families before the trip. Clearer, more tailored, and more proactive information would have made the whole process less stressful.

Dear Lizzy Hi Lizzy, thank you for sharing your feedback – it’s wonderful to hear that your daughter had such a fantastic and life-changing experience in Costa Rica! We’re sorry to hear that some of the information didn’t feel easily accessible before departure. We do our best to keep our interactive online portal, the Traveller Gateway, up to date with details such as kit lists, vaccination guidance, fundraising resources, and project information. Were you able to access this at all? Your comments are really valuable and will help us continue improving how we share information with families. Thank you also for highlighting your experience with the PADI system. I can see from our communication with you that our Travel Support Team reached out to PADI when their system showed an error, which was quickly resolved. As their system is separate from ours, we’re a little reliant on them, but your feedback is very helpful and we’ll pass it along to support further improvements. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us – and above all, we’re delighted that your daughter had such an amazing time in Costa Rica. All the best The Camps Crew

Our son has just come back from an expedition with Camps International. The journey from the start is more about fundraising ideas but once you get closer the real detail comes and everything you need to know as a parent is sent to you. In terms of the trip itself, it is amazingly well organised, our son said he felt really safe and that the guides were able to answer any questions or concerns. From a parent perspective we had several emails to assure us that all was well (as there was conflict on the country of this visit). At no point was I concerned that there was any danger and on return we had that confirmation that the expedition was a brilliant adventure and everyone loved it. In fact, he would go again given the chance. A big thanks to camps for keeping us informed and for facilitating such a brilliant opportunity for our children to experience.

My daughter has just returned from a 4 week trip to Tanzania. She had an amazing time. Before she left everything was explained in detail and whenever I had additional questions a member of the team was always able to answer my questions. The kit list was very informative. Her leader Katie was fantastic with all her group. My daughter has made friends for life by sharing unique experiences from plastering walls in a school, waking up to seeing giraffes walking past your camp to scuba diving in the Indian Ocean. I would thoroughly recommend camps

Thank you Camps International! I absolutely loved my 4 week expedition in Borneo. Every aspect of the trip was well organised, fun and impactful. Project work allowed us to improve and make a difference to local communities. Visiting orangutan and sunbear sanctuaries was an amazing experience. Treking through the jungle was an extraordinary opportunity that I will never forget. All camps staff were welcoming and lovely and made me feel safe and looked after every step of the way. Thank you!

My son had a brilliant time on his 4 week expedition to Peru. All information was provided prior to departure and the team were more than happy to help with any queries on the run up to the trip. The experiences and opportunities whilst on expedition were nothing short of amazing. The kit list was not excessive, however the vaccines required were a bit of a financial shock so be prepared for those. My son was well looked after by the team leader and all other camp staff whilst away, and his team leader seemed very knowledgeable. Wi-Fi was not as readily available as we thought, so I would definitely recommend getting some kind of data package/e-sim. All meals and drinks were provided, and jam sandwiches were available at any time of the day if needed! The cost was worth the experience my son has had, he has thoroughly enjoyed it.

My trip to Borneo with Team Rusa in April was the best two weeks of my life; it was truly life-changing and I enjoyed every minute of it. The project work was engaging and very fulfilling as it really gave me a purpose, to help the community that I grew to love during my time there. I really appreciated the welcoming nature of all the staff, particularly Eve, Lydia and the kitchen Mummas at Camp Bongkud. As well as our incredible local guide Fab, and our incredible group leader Kai. Kai and Fab really made the trip the best it could be for us all and were so kind and caring, they became just like friends to all of us rather than teachers. After being back home for a week, I already miss Kai and Fab every day and wish that I could have spent months in Borneo instead of just two weeks. I could not recommend this trip enough for anyone interested. It is the best opportunity ever and it challenged me in just the right ways. I have grown so much as a person and now have such an appreciation for all the simple things in my life that I used to take for granted. I have become much more independent since coming home, and I miss being in Borneo everyday, I even miss the bucket showers. Thank you for everything you do to make these trips the best they can be, it was a truly life-changing experience.

I absolutley loved my trip. I could not fault the experience camps international provided at all. I loved Kai as the camps instructor, he made the trip so fun but also provided support whenever its needed. Fab was also so good bringing so much energy and he made me feel safe, in the jungle. I loved everything, it was so well orginised. And the way camps accomadated so many changes like going to the anzac service was amazing. I never got bored of mixing cement, i wish i could go back and mix some more. I couldnt reccomend this experience enough. Thank you so much camps.

The Camps International expedition to Peru was highly enjoyable and I would recommend anyone to give it a go. I learnt a lot about myself, and we learnt and used effective communication throughout many practical skills and tasks. Accommodation was varied but each site very good. The food was good, and it was nice to learn about Peruvian culture. Staff on the trip were professional and approachable, and made the whole experience fun. I wish I could do it again!

Camps international is an astounding company that has made a real difference in their locations and to be even just a small part of that difference has been an amazing experience. It was great to have Camps organizing everything for us and having their amazing in and out of country staff showing us the way and always being a friendly face to turn too. Their in country staff did an amazing job in including us in their culture and showing us the ins and outs of the culture. Their out of country staff were amazing in the work they did with us and always being able to assist us in anything. Camps were a extremely organised company with everything they did and allowed my fellow students and I to take in everything we experienced or did on our expedition.
