Stamp Howe was such a lovely place the house itself was really big the games room was fab especially as the weather wasn't great, although even the rain didn't stop us having a fab time. The views from each window in the house were lovely. It was such a great location for walking the dogs but was also near enough to get to other places such as Windermere, Ambleside etc. Having the Pub (The Mortal Man) on the door step was also a bonus, great food and lovely staff not far to stagger home.

Ideal for our family get together. Having the games room was brilliant. It was used for table football competitions, reading and Lego building. Plenty of space for all. Ideal for nipping into the pub for a Christmas Eve drink. My only criticism is that it could do with extra crockery as once it was in the dishwasher there wasn't any spare. Only 8 of each and 7 dishes. Easily fixed. Would stay again as the views were great.

Clean tidy, well equipped place to stay with a great layout. Plenty of space for the six of us plus Ozzy the greyhound. In a great location between Windermere and Ambleside with a great pub next door. Hopefully we will come back again.

Stayed at Stamp Howe for 7 nights with family members for a wedding, only a 10-minute drive away. Really convenient location, not only for the wedding venue, but also as a base for adventures in the Lakes. The Mortal Man pub, opposite, was useful as a meeting place. Facilities in the cottage were excellent. Comfortable beds. Practical furniture. Working kitchen with all necessary equipment. Washing machine & dishwasher were ideal. Games room became a centre for conversations. Garden was a bonus in the hot weather with enough seating for everyone. A great setting!

Stamp Howe is situated in a fantastic location within Troutbeck, plenty room and space for 5 adults plus a dog, lovely big secure garden with nice furniture and fabulous views, parking for 3 cars which is also a bonus. The house itself could be better, a few simple and not too expensive touches would make the difference, larger and thicker towels, more crockery, especially bigger bowls, the fridge and freezer were both on the small side for such a big property and both need defrosting. Most of the rooms had a damp smell and feel to them, probably due to the age of the house. A rotary dryer and pegs would also be beneficial, for dry days! Drying clothes indoors on the airer was not ideal. We had a great week in the area, lovely walks, boat trips and NT visits, such a beautiful part of the Lake District.

The house is in a lovely position with great views. We had a couple of problems, which were rectified straightaway by the team, (including going out to buy a new fridge), even though it was supposed to be a day off for one of the team. A couple of additions in the kitchen would have helped, like a whisk and bigger cereal bowls. Also it would have been nice to have had larger bath towels. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as we would have liked but having the playroom made it more enjoyable as we were not able to take advantage of the garden. We didn't eat at any of the pubs, but did go for a drink at the Mortal Man and the beer garden was lovely to sit in when the sun came out. I would not hesitate in recommending Stamp Howe for a holiday and also the Herdwick Cottages team.

This is our second visit to Stamp Howe and again it was brilliant. Large, clean, comfortable house. Ideal for family holidays in a beautiful area with a lovely garden with the added bonus of being just opposite The Mortal Man pub.
