Stamp Howe, situated in the picturesque village of Troutbeck with sensational views across the valley towards Garburn Pass, is a detached four-bedroom property set within its own private grounds.

Formally a banked barn dating back to the early 17th century, this spacious Troutbeck self-catering cottage can accommodate up to 8 guests, which makes it perfect for families or groups of friends to get together plus the location makes it ideal for exploring the Lake District National Park.

Stamp Howe is spacious, quiet and very comfortable. The garden is lovely and our dog enjoyed the many walks nearby. It is ideally situated for Ullswater, Coniston and very close to Ambleside and Windermere. Crockery, glassware and cutlery could do with being updated, and chipped paintwork on the kitchen cupboards as well as a plinth which was sticking out didn't make a very good first impression. However, we enjoyed our stay there very much and the Herdwick team were very helpful and supportive. We would definitely go back!

We have now stayed at Stamp Howe three times and hope to return again. It is perfectly located in the picturesque village of Troutbeck with stunning views across the valley and a wonderful pub opposite. Perfect for a family holiday.

Very comfortable and clean and well positioned. Loads of rooms and therefore space for large groups and families. Plenty of heat and hot water.would go back. The playroom was a great asset. Negatives: larger fridge and possibly cooker required. Hairdryer, larger towels and extra blankets would also be nice. The seal in shower lets it down. I would have to say a little welcome box of a few tea bags, sachets of milk and coffee and mini washing up liquid, although I suppose could be useful seems cold. Many places offer a box of tea bags and a pinta in fridge and perhaps a cake. Rather nothing than the mean box! Would suggest kitchen equipment sorted out and put in the more accessible kitchen cupboards and some wine glasses please.

Large well equipped cottage for 4 couples, conveniently located near a reputed inn. Voltshare electric car loading facility comes in handy as there are not many public options in the immediate neighbourhood. Two bathrooms only.
