Stamp Howe, situated in the picturesque village of Troutbeck with sensational views across the valley towards Garburn Pass, is a detached four-bedroom property set within its own private grounds.

Formally a banked barn dating back to the early 17th century, this spacious Troutbeck self-catering cottage can accommodate up to 8 guests, which makes it perfect for families or groups of friends to get together plus the location makes it ideal for exploring the Lake District National Park.

There are plenty of fantastic walks right from the doorstep including Wansfell Pike with fabulous views over Windermere towards Coniston and the Langdales, some of which are bridleways, so bring the mountain bikes!

For lovers of real ales and good food, The Mortal Man Inn is located across the road and a mere five-minute walk away is The Queens Head gastro-pub - both are family-friendly and both allow dogs!

This was excellent accommodation. Very clean and spacious. A lovely location with super views over the hills. Very good for exploring around Windermere, Ambleside, Ullswater and not far from Keswick. The pub opposite the house was very handy for takeaway meals and good value.

Lovely rustic cottage with lots of space for everyone and everything in the living accommodation: large lounge with sofa space for everyone, games room, snug, and dining room with two small tables that push together to make a big square table - great for those dinner evenings together. The location is remote, and the village doesn't really have a shop to speak of, but for us that was part of the charm - the views are amazing, and we did a few walks from the door. The cottage is right opposite the Mortal Man pub (very convenient!) but there was no problem with noise or traffic etc. The lawn is sloping, with not much sitting space, (good for roly-polys though) but there is a small patio area. We managed to park our four cars on the drive no problem. There is only an under-counter fridge and separate freezer in the kitchen, but there is a large walk-in pantry, and a bar fridge in the games room, and our party of 7 + child + toddler managed fine. Definitely recommend this cottage to family groups.

Stamp Howe was fabulous, ideal for a family gathering, with nice bedrooms, and plenty of living space - a TV lounge, a reading lounge, dining room, and games room, not to mention the garden. Parking for 3 comfortably, though you have to shuffle the cars to get out. We found we ran out of some basic kitchen crockery regularly (cups and bowls in particular), which is a shame as the kitchen is otherwise well stocked. The best bit was the setting though - stunning. Sat in the heart of the village, nestled in a beautiful valley, and very private. An ideal base from which to explore. Very happy memories made ❤

We loved our stay at Stamp Howe for its great location plus the games room was a real bonus! The garden is lovely with fantastic views and the main house is comfortable but a little tired in places, this would not put us off returning though.

We have just returned from a brilliant time with our family at Stamp Howe in Troutbeck near Ambleside. The views from the house were beautiful, the house was clean and bright and there was a lot of room for everyone, including a games room for the children! We did several long walks from the door of the house including walking over Wasfell into Ambleside and back and up Thornthwaite Crag. The house was lovely and warm when we returned with every conceivable appliance provided. An unforgettable holiday!
