Stamp Howe is in a rural location less than 10 minutes drive from Windermere. The immediate surrounding village of Troutbeck is full of character, constructed in the vernacular style and a world apart from the tourist scrum found in the large towns. Mountains start right outside the front door, 2 km puts you onto the western leg of the Kentmere Horseshoe. The area is very quiet. The 'Mortal Man' pub is right nearby. The house is lovely, with plenty of space and nicely furnished rooms. There is a wonderful view of the mountains, especially from the master bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped. The garden is a great place to unwind in the sun after a hike, or for breakfast. We felt very at home there and were sad to leave after a week of glorious sunny weather.

We stayed in Stamp Howe for a little over a week last January 2020 and were not disappointed. It’s a lovely homely cottage with some stunning views including some amazing hills. The cottage is warm and spacious inside, with a welcoming feel as soon as you step inside. Nearby there are some amazing restaurants and pubs, but the best part is the awesome views. The Shraga’s ensure you have everything you need for a really memorable stay and we would be happy to recommend it for a couple or a family for a real getaway break.

My boyfriend was looking for a suitable place for our engagement for a long time and I must admit that he couldn't have chosen a better one! Stamp Howe is located in the heart of the Lake District, in a picturesque old village near famous Windermere. This place has it all - a comfortably furnished, spacious house, a cozy living room with a fireplace, a well-equipped modern kitchen, two bathrooms and even a gaming room. There is also a beautiful garden where you can relax while listening to the bubbling brook and admiring the stunning views. A nearby pub offers delicious local food and a great selection of wines. The parking space in front of the house is also very convenient, and the proximity of hiking trails allows you to spend a fantastic time walking and admiring the breathtaking views. Our stay was very romantic and enjoyable, we will definitely come back!

Perfect Place with perfect space! This was our third visit to the lakes and by far the best place we have stayed. Stamp Howe is super well maintained and has great wifi!! We travelled as a family of 5 with young kids aged 5, 7 and 8. Thanks goodness we chose this place as it was ideal for kids; large flat screened TV, large tables for games and puzzles. Major plus was the Snug where you can sneak off for a nap whilst the kids are entertained in the games room or the Living room (or quite often both). Stunning views across the valley from house, with a beautiful range of hills and the Garburn Pass opposite. Also, an easy walk with spectacular views all the way to Ambleside where we would spend a few hours with the kids and then grab a taxi back to the house if we weren’t feeling like the walk back. Important if you have 3 kids with you!!!! I can recommend the pub opposite the house called the Mortal man. Great family food and reasonably priced. We also had an incredible meal at the Queen's Head, where we had our final meal in the lakes. The Post Office convenience store in Troutbeck Village was also handy and made great bacon butties!!! I don’t usually write reviews but this was an amazing house and the kids are already bugging us to go back!!!!!!... Extra added bonus - the garden was a pure delight by the way! Property is very fairly priced for a family but quite frankly 2 families could easily share as there are 4 bedrooms.
