We have just returned from a week at the lovely Stamp Howe cottage. The cottage is in the beautiful village of Troutbeck with walks and a pub directly on hand. The Mortal Inn has a limited menu but is great to have just opposite the cottage and the views from the garden are stunning. Troutbeck is a wonderful place to stay for local walking. We did not mind using the car to get out and about and you need to do this to explore further afield. The cottage was perfect for our family. Spacious, clean, with character and a lot of equipment. The bedrooms were lovely and three toilets, as well as two bathrooms, was great. The garden is a lovely space too and secure for dogs. I cannot recommend the cottage enough or the Herdwick Company. I have rented holiday accommodation many times before but never had such great service before. Adam and co are really helpful and always willing to help in any way they can.

We had a wonderful holiday here with our four adult children plus one partner. There was plenty of room for all comfortably. The cottage has everything you need and Adam couldn’t have been more helpful. Beautiful views, wonderful pub. What more could you ask for. The kids loved playing table football. It was a fantastic week. Thumbs up from us.

We loved everything there! It’s super super organised, very well equipped and it’s a really big house! I love the small details so much, all the lamps with usb charging points, and the kid’s room the charging point has the cover on it, super thoughtful, the coffee, I was worried not being able to find coffee in the morning, so it saved my morning mood, the toilet, they are 3 of them in the house, what a bonus, the play room, kids stayed there for hours, the kitchen, it’s better than my own kitchen with good knives, you don’t get good knives in a rental properties, so many good things I want to add but I don’t want to bore anyone anymore! One more thing which impressed me a lot, I didn’t need to contact the host for anything, I found all I need and the instruction is easy to follow, zero problem during our stay. We will go back for sure!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, everything we needed was literally within walking distance and a special mention to the food coming out of the Mortal Man pub across the way. It was very well received after some great hikes that we started from the front door of the cottage. The thoughtful welcome packages and the well-equipped kitchen made the world of difference when we arrived! The fireplace was cosy in the evenings and came with wood and firelighters to get our week going. The place was spotless ! We will be back as soon as we can!

The photos do not do this house justice! What a fantastic time we had in this beautiful house. It is so spacious, yet cosy and warming. The presentation and cleanliness was notable. The facilities perfect for a family gathering to celebrate a birthday. The whole family were bowled over by Stamp Howe, planning our next visit in 2022. There are excellent walks right on the doorstep easy and challenging. The Mortal man is a welcome stop and so close to ‘home’! The mulled wine / beer went down a treat after our 4 seasons hike to Wansfell pike! Such a spacious and interesting house, we can’t wait to revisit!
