“The staff and premises are fab. Staff could not do enough for you. It was very clean and relaxing. Just what we wanted. The relaxation room is so good and you feel relaxed from the moment you walk in. Defo recommend. If you are looking for a little r&r this is the place.”

“Our experience at Bannatyne Durham was very poor. Upon entering the pool myself and my friend were greeted with extremely loud music and a pool full of people (obviously there was an exercise class on). We weren’t told this would be happening and, if we had known, we would have arrived later/earlier. The music was deafening and we weren’t able to hear each other talk when sitting right next to each other. We found the member of staff running the class quite rude, also. He very rudely told me to get off my phone at the poolside (I was unaware this was a rule, every other spa I’ve been to allows phone usage at the poolside), therefore we just had to sit and watch the very loud exercise class going on as we were not allowed on phones and couldn’t hear each other talk. Not only this, but, when we actually managed to get in the pool, the bottom of the pool was filled with sand which was quite unpleasant. The massage I had was lovely, but found the lady who gave the massage to be extremely blunt, which made things a bit uncomfortable. Overall not a good experience and won’t be returning.”

“Massage was done by a very young girl who didn’t seem to be very confident in what she was doing, the whole experience felt a bit awkward and I left feeling like I hadn’t even had a massage. The relaxation room wasn’t very relaxing as they were having works done by maintenance men. I decided to take my book to the pool area instead, where I was greeted by multiple screaming kids as it seemed my spa session had landed at the same time as family swim. Was in an out of the spa within the hour and can’t say I’ll be returning.”

“No staff at reception when we first arrived, waited for ten minutes, had to climb over the barrier to get someone’s attention. Changing rooms, pool and spa all on different floors. Pool was nice, steam room and sauna very hood, jacuzzi was only luke warm. Treatments were nice but staff again were disorganised when we arrived, and the relaxation room was so busy there wasn’t enough seats.”
