“Just an FYI, look carefully at the photos. The pre-soldered kit will save time, but in retrospect I think the DIY version looks a bit better and is (obviously) customizable if you source other colour LEDs.”
“I've really enjoyed using this to play around with the Python GPIO library for Raspberry Pi, and being able to SSH in to change the light pattern while the tree is on display is good fun.
The only change I suggest is to flip the tree around so the yellow star faces away from the main board - that would let you display the tree with power cables trailing away behind it instead of in front, which is a bit unsightly on a Christmas displace.
Otherwise I definitely recommend this kit without hesitation!”
