“Breakfasts were fantastic. Evening menu limited out of certain thing’s like steak. You advertise dog treats on arrival and weekend goodies for our dogs and cocktails. No bowls no doggy welcome pack so you shouldn’t advertise these things! You also have to drive to the beach as it’s not a short walk to the dunes. The staff were lovely and supplied us with dog beds but knew nothing about your free sausage for the dogs and doggy treats pack with snacks. Good job I took cool box with dogs meals and bowls.The hotel exterior needs sorting looked run down render hanging off, guttering and down pipes missing and fencing broken and layed over with grass needing some care. Also the hotel has an industrial estate feel with wagons driving past regularly to the recycling plant at the side and rear. You look down at scrap metal pilled up and old scrap tankers and trailers outside rotting away and you also get road noises looking down to the main busy road. There were a few others staying there with there pets but 90% of the hotel rooms were booked by workmen, I counted over 30 vehicles mainly vans. Plenty of early morning noise with all going to early breakfast before work. The staff were lovely and helpful but your advert is so fare from the truth with no treats how dare you advertise this break as you do? Very dissatisfied with your advert as nothing at all like your advertisement barking break. I have more to say but enough for now.”

“The staff were really helpful and friendly. It is 100 per cent Our rescue dog is quite nervous of groups of people,but the staff could not do more to help put him at ease and befriend him. Can not give this hotel a higher recommendation. We will be returning.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Our dog did enjoy the beach which was very near by so that was definitely a plus.

“The Dunes hotel is isolated so you will need a car. The rooms are fine, although we were expecting a dog bed and treats as stated on line. It would have been nice as well to have water in the rooms. Also it still says they do massages which are now not available. There on line prescence needs to be updated. Although the breakfast menu has a number of items on it, it was a serve yourself cooked breakfast. We were not told if we could order any of the items on the menu. We did have a good time and were blessed by the weather.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Most people accept that for the price offered many food items on a menu are going to be frozen. Many chain establishments use only frozen produce. However, the quality of these products varies enormously so I would suggest a bit of shopping around to source some higher quality items.

“Nice staff in all areas. I liked the room decor, which was clean and comfortable. Only issue with the room was we had singles with no mattress covers and the sheets come off in the night leaving you on the mattress. However, they seemed reasonably new and in good order. Not a great entrance to the property - could do with a tidy up, landscaping maybe. However, being so close to such a great beach at Roan Head makes it foregiveable. The issue we had was with the evening menu and food quality that was delivered did not match the menu descriptions even closely. A bit more attention to this area and the sourcing of the produce and this could be easily corrected. Ed the GM dealt professionally with my comments. As a dog friendly hotel in this part of the world for a reasonable price I would recommend it.”

“A very clean, welcoming hotel, staff very friendly, in a very isolated spot, so if it’s solitude you want……it’s perfect Harry our dog, enjoyed his stay, never made to feel a nuisance.”

“The hotel is ‘in the middle of nowhere’ just a few minutes away from a fantastic beach and sand dunes that the dogs loved. We received a warm welcome, a beautifully presented room, and had a very lovely meal in the restaurant. The staff were busy but always took the time to be friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. Would visit again :)”
