“Got the mk 2.5 version and I\'m distinctly miffed as it slightly smaller than my original 2002 plate plinth and shows up rub marks in the paint on the bumper above the line of the new plinth Unfortunatly my old plinth broke removing it or I would have sent this back as the only reason for replacement was that the black pastic had faded, I wish i\'d just doctor\'d the old one.I dont really care what the excuses are the reality is i\'m stuck with this and now have to paint my bumper. Postage fast but i\'d rather wait a wee and have one that fitsI would also back up what others have said about the screw holes not lining up correctly and the plinth feeling brittle and cheap and I too had to use my own screws and plugs to fit and also had to drill my bumper the worst buy so far from MX5 parts so much so I\'m buying my K&N filter elswhere.”

“Very disappointing. The supplied expanding fittings are much too short to reach into the bumper behind the plinth. The sealing strip is too stiff, a poor fit and is only long enough to fit the top edge and two sides of the plinth. The only good thing about this item is that it was one of the weekly special offers and was almost half price. At £10 it is just about worth the effort in sourcing your own cavity fixings and sealing strip, at £19 it is extremely poor value.”

“Great service! Got this on special offer so was good value to say it came with everything you need. It fitted well into the holes in the bumper and as the original rubber strip/seal was in good condition and already had the shape of the plinth, I used this instead of the new one that was also supplied. The only delay was having to drill holes in the plinth from which to screw in the number plate.”

“Está bem conseguida esta peça! Mas na minha encomenda a borracha é demasiado curta! tive que corta-la em três partes (horizontal/cima e as laterais) e mesmo assim numa das laterais fica à vista que falta mais um pouco de borracha!”

“Bought to replace the existing plinth, which was cracked. Quality of plastic not wonderful, but no worse than the original. The holes lined up with those already in the bumper so in theory should have been very easy to fit, however:a) The supplied fittings had been manufactured incorrectly; the "expanding outer sleeve" did not expand when the pin was inserted, so the plinth just fell off again. I had to re-use the old sleeves from the plinth I'd just taken off (luckily I hadn't binned or broken them!).b) The rubber protection strip had to be fitted - this was extremely fiddly to get it to stay on, with no guidence on how best to do it. In order to get it to bend 90 deg at the corners I heated the strip with a candle, folded to shape then cooled it under a cold tap. I then glued the strip in place before fitting the plinth to the car. Would have been useful to have known this before removing the old plinth, and would have done it the day before to allow the glue to set.”

“Ordered and fitted this a couple of years ago, not very happy with the quality to be honest. The plastic inserts supplied with it both broke when I tried to fit them, the material of which the plinth is made is extremely brittle and I doubt it would take any "small parking nudge at all". The plinth actually cracked slightly on one side while fitting it. Is this really a Mazda part ? I doubt it looking at the material. Or was the product I ordered at the time not exactly this one ? Pity, really, because other than that I can't fault MX5parts (good website, on-time deliveries even into France, good prices compared to my local dealer, etc...).”

“I recently bought one of these plinths, with some trepidation, having read some of the reviews.I couldn't fault the product. It lined up exactly and was virtually the same specification as the original removed from my car. I am no great mechanic but it took me about ten minutes to fit.This is the first order I have placed with MX5 parts and certainly won't be the last.”
