About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

Having toyed around with the idea of getting a mooncup for years but constantly deferring because of the 'squeam' factor, I finally convinced myself as I am shortly off to a developing country with no infrastructure for waste disposal - whilst there this year I saw used sanitary towels strewn on a scenic walk, gruesome but a good reminder that the rubbish we create has to go somewhere be it in a developed or developing country. Periods have always been such a pain for me because I always felt the products I was using be they tampons or sanitary towels never quite 'fit' and so far so good with the mooncup. Due to the unbelievably fast delivery from oneclickpharmacy my package arrived within 2 working days and I was able to use it for the last 2 days of my period (which luck would have it are the exact days the pamphlet suggests you first try out the mooncup). I was a little apprehensive at first about inserting the cup - it's quite a bit bigger than a super tampon but it has been fine, the removal is a little more tricky but the key thing is to stay relaxed AND it has been so much easier than my first attempts to use tampons. You really don't feel the cup inside you if you have it in the correct position and it is so satisfying to know that you are not generating extra waste each month and that for possibly the next ten years I don't have to buy any more sanitary products (that's not having to buy over a 1000 tampons or sanitary towels). I'm already looking forward to my next period to test out the mooncup on my heavier days!

I was a little dubious about trying the Mooncup at first. I'd seen advertisements for them plastered on the back of toilet cubicles at music festivals and thought 'urgh gross, that has to be uncomfortable!' But something about the idea of tampons and sanitary towels clogging up beaches really stuck in my mind, plus I was sick of having them lying here there and everywhere, so I decided to order a Mooncup at the age of 21, after eight years of menstruation.I was due on my period but not actually bleeding yet and so decided to insert it - bonus point number one, you don't have to be 'on' to insert the cup - no more ruining your knickers or wasting sanitary towels! It looked huge at first compared to my usual tampons and my first thought was 'that is NEVER going to fit' but I took advice from the leaflet and wet it and folded it in a special way and it did! I did end up removing the whole stem because it was uncomfortable when the cup was inserted and I found I could remove it easily without. As somebody who has had heavy periods and experienced leakage with tampons, I was really expecting leakage here but none at all - and that was on my first time using it! I guess you could say I took to it like a duck to water, and I used to have trouble using tampons!Overall the cup is so comfy and I've found easy to remove, as long as you are careful. Cleaning it is easy - I just pop it in hot water with some sterilising tablets. I really wish I had bitten the bullet and given the Mooncup a try earlier - it is going to make my period much less of a hassle, save me a hell of a lot of money and also save my guilt knowing that I'm not polluting beaches!Give it a try - you won't regret it!

Like a lot of the reviewers out there, I wavered for a long time before parting with my £20. My periods are heavy and problematic and I felt unsure that the mooncup would fulfil my requirements. Two months on - I would not look back. The pluses are - not flushing an array of sanitary products down the loo, not having to carry tampax etc around with me, and above all the fact that THIS WORKS! On heavy days (two per period) I still use sanitary towels/pant liners also, just in case I am not near a loo in time for "changeover". I can't feel the mooncup when it's in (you do need to trim the end) and I change it about as often as I would a tampon.Emptying out -you can't be too sqeamish - as another reviewer said, it certainly puts you in touch with your body! You have to be a bit careful when it's full ie. on your heaviest days, as when the suction is released, it pops out and can spill blood. It's helpful to be in a loo with a sink nearby, for washing the mooncup out, but at worst, a bit of loo roll does the job.I would definitely recommend that all women give it a go.

It took me a while and a lot of frustration to use this. I'm over 30, no children and found the size suitable. I have awfully heavy periods and it doesn't leak. I also have an IUD. I'm very pleased with the moon cup. That being said it took a while to get the hang of. Putting it in and taking it out is very difficult at first. The first time I tried I got frustrated and didn't try for another few months but when I tied it and finally managed to get it positioned correctly it really does do what it says on the tin. Strangely enough my usually debilitating cramps have gone?I gave it 4 stars because it requires a learning curve, is a bit messy (can't see myself using it in a public toilet) but apart from that it's very good. Much better than pads & tampons.

A friend had mentioned Mooncups sometime ago and although I was unsure I decided to give one a try. I very quickly sussed out that for me, the easiest way for me to fold it was to tuck one side in as far as it will go into the cup and then grip it into a kind of point (hope this make sense) I picked up the insertion of it quickly but the cringe factor was a bit slower to overcome. I had read other reviews so was aware that the 'tail' can be an issue, and it was. I found it uncomfortable and irritating, however, I was reluctant to cut it off as I had an irrational fear that I wouldnt be able to get it out! I basically snipped it bit by bit until it was gone. I felt quite 'cringy' about the removal of it but this quickly became easy, I basically just pinch the end of it to break the suction (it also became less messy as I got used to it) All in all I am glad I bought it, it worked well, I liked the fact that there was nothing 'dangling' as with tampons and its obviously better for the environment. Its a weird, cringy concept to get your head around at first but I'm glad I did.

I bought this product because I have very heavy periods and spend a small fortune on sanitary products. I changed slightly less (every 2.5 hours) instead of hourly so that's definitely an improvement. I needed additional protection during the night (which I did need) and had extra protection during the day - which I didn't. on lighter days, it was perfect with minimal changes. There are definitely cost savings - It would have paid for itself in 3 months!! I did find it less convenient on heavy days (a bit messy) but apart from that it's a great product.

I had seen these from about 5 years ago, and each time put myself off getting one....but I have to say after 2 months I'm really thinking it's the best thing ever.Absolutely all the previous reviews are true. On 'heavy' days it can be a very messy process removing it but it absolutely does not leak. On my heaviest days I always used to wear a towel and a tampon, but I've found I don't really need to now which is fabulous. Having removed it on my heaviest days I would be quite reluctant to try to do anything with it in a public toilet. Not only might you look like you'd murdered someone in the cubicle, but it also can leave a lovely telltale pool of blood in the bottom of the toilet bowl...or have to flush 2-3 times. Having dealt with it at work and at home, I'm not convinced taking a bottle of water into public toilet with you would work. Not to put anyone off though, it's really comfortable and not as hard to put in or take out as I had imagined. There is a bit of a knack to it but you pick it up easily enough. Just a note to anyone else in my situation also, I am over 30 and not yet a mother and the larger size A is pretty comfortable for me.
