About Mooncup:

Mooncup began with a clear goal: to give people a healthier, sustainable way to manage their periods.

Back in 2002, we launched the world’s first medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, pioneering a movement that put health and the planet first. We saw an industry where profit came before people, ingredients were hidden, and plastics reigned, so we challenged the status quo.

Now, we're on a mission to become the world’s biggest sustainable period care brand. We’ve just launched Mooncup period pads into Sainsbury’s, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Look Fantastic. We’re also partnering with workplaces, gyms and hotels (like Canva, Danone, Third Space, Gymshark and Claridge’s) to offer free period care in bathrooms.

We use only science-backed, body-safe ingredients because your period products should work with your body, not against it.

I never used these things before !!! Nice after use as I bought two and the other bought was too soft ... This one springs back as new each time but ......?! Be careful not to leave in too long or they can stink

I'm not sure what the purpose of the stalk is, instructions say trim to appropriate length, I had to trim it smooth because it chafed horribly. Having done that though, I found the cup comfortable enough to forget it was there. So far I've only used it for one cycle but it caused me no problems and I soon got the hang of putting it in and taking it out. I love the fact that I can use it at the first sign of my visitor and right through till I'm clear without using sweaty pads! I had no problem at all with leaks (I did run a finger round to check it was fully open) but I did learn the lesson not to wait too long during my heaviest day, when removal resulted in some spillage, however, that was the only time I found it messy. Overall much cleaner and more straight forward than tampons and pads and I slept better, confident I wouldn't wake to mess and leaks in the morning. I definitely recommend this cup personally but I did do my research first because we are all different and what suits one won't always suit another. I found videos on youtube helpful in my decision to buy this cup.

I've used a Mooncup now for about six years and I'd never use a tampon again. If you're looking at this product you will already know that cups are kinder to your body and to the environment. It really is a nice feeling knowing that you don't have to shop for sanitary products again (or at least until you buy your next cup - my first one lasted five years).I will be honest and say that the cup does sometimes (rarely) leak, but then so do tampons. Unless your period is super heavy you will get a bit of a 'warning' with a few drips first. I have pretty heavy, clotty periods and I don't usually have to empty the cup more than about two or maybe three times in 24 hours. All cups come with quite a long stem, so make sure that you cut this to a comfortable length to your body. Because I'm short, my stem isn't really long enough to grab so I end up gripping the cup itself to pull it out. That can get a bit messy so I try to only do it at home, which is pretty easy when you don't have to empty it much. I usually then pour the blood down the sink (really should get a pot plant) and give the cup a swish under the tap before putting it back in. Between periods I wash it in the dishwasher.

First reviewed as 4 stars in July 2014, adding to this review in 2023 as five stars. Still great and used monthly 8.5 years on, although I can now see a small break in the silicone.************************************************iInitial 2014 review. To be honest, I am not yet 100% on board with the mooncup. It is my very first attempt at using a menstrual cup though so I will give it a few more months. In the meantime, here are my first impressions (Might be too much information for some):1. Expect to fiddle with the folding and insertion techniques the first time you use it. This just means don't give up if it's not working, try another method and give it time.2. If you don't check that it has fully 'popped' after insertion, you increase the chances of it leaking (It almost certainly will)3. Remove it every couple of hours the first time you use it. It will help you determine how light/heavy your flow is. Don't blindly follow the 8-12 hours rule especially on your heavier days. I was emptying it every 3 hours on days 3 and 4 of my period but days 1,2, and 5, I only emptied it every 8 hours.4. Once you've got a technique that works, don't forget you've got the mooncup in!.All these said, I still preferred the cup to pads which I've worn all my life up till this point, well except for the comfy hospitals pads I used when my baby was born :)

Good product found it took a while to adjust but once you get going it does the trick. I do martial arts and was so paranoid it would literally decide to pop out half way through training whilst wearing a lovely white uniform but alas! It stayed put, what a relief. I have heavy periods and can't use tampons due to the evil thrush I would highly recommend this product if any of these problems apply to you

Amazing, a lot better than anything else as there is not rubbish involved and it lasts for longer and saves you a lot of money over time, just warn you though, size A is for if you've had children, size B is for if you havent

I have now been using it for two periods and think it's a brilliant product. I had one small leak so far, but think that was down to me not inserting it properly once. The capacity is enormous and i am just disappointed I didn't discover this sooner.

Put off getting this for a while as I was worried it was a bit hippy/dippy and that I'd need to knit my own hemp knickers - I decided to go for it on recommendation from a particularly un-hippy friend! I'm very glad I did! It's so ludicrously convenient! I've always had heavy periods and often leaked even with mega-sized tampons and heavy-duty pads - I haven't had a single leak since starting with the cup!Don't get me wrong - it takes a bit of getting used to. I had to completely trim the tail or it was uncomfortable, and getting it in and out takes a knack, but really pleased with it. Easy to clean and as of month four has started to save me money!TIP: If you can't get it out immediately, firstly try to relax so your muscles aren't as tense and 'clenching' the cup into place. The 'push' down into your pelvis and try to squeeze the cup with your fingertips to break the seal of the cup. I've never got it stuck yet!
